1) We have often discussed the reality that most Federal government programs are criminally infested which costs honest taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars a year. A particularly bad program when it comes to criminal activity is the Federal food stamp program. According to a recent article by Phoenix Brooks, writing for the US Chronicle website, that criminal activity was recently exposed in Kentucky:
- A Kentucky woman has been convicted of money laundering charges and committing food stamp fraud that totalled almost half a million dollars.
- The convicted woman, Phyllis Tyler, committed her fraud over three and a half years.
- Tyler owned a store that sold food, beer, lottery tickets and wigs (go figure).
- Tyler would buy food stamp recipients’ food stamps at about 50% of the face value of their food stamps.
- That enabled the food stamp recipients to buy products (e.g. alcohol), a purchase forbidden under the food stamp program, and allowed Tyler to turn in the purchased food stamps to get full value for what she paid half of the face value for.
- According to the police report of the undercover sting operation that nabbed Tyler: “On three separate occasions within the last 2 1/2 months, members of the Covington Police Department utilized a confidential informant to conduct controlled sales from within an establishment known as A&E Market.”
2) Keely Sharp, writing for the Eagle Rising website recently, reported on the hand written letter of advice that Obama had left for Trump. On the surface, this advice seemed to be very wise and insightful. Some of the quotes included the following:
- Obama urged Trump to protect the “democratic institutions and traditions” of the country.
- Obama stated that U.S. “leadership in this world really is indispensable.”
- He suggested that Trump leave “instruments of our democracy at least as strong as we found them”.
He sat back and allowed the Iranians and North Koreans to advance their nuclear weapons programs with a nonsense strategy that Obama called “strategic patience.” He allowed and/or facilitated the rise of ISIS in the Middle East. His passivity allowed Russia, really a two bit nation with nuclear weapons, to become an international player again. His illegal intrusion into the Libyan civil war tore a foreign country apart and created a new haven for terrorists. Hardly making sure that U.S. “leadership in this world really is indispensable.”

Obama was always a smooth speaker. Problem he was usually lying or deceiving with his words to serve his personal purposes, goals, and huge ego. This letter to Trump proves again that this is so true.
3) Outside of Nancy Pelosi, Sheila Jackson-Lee, a Congresswoman from Texas, has proven to be the most reliable source of inane, idiotic, and out of touch quotes of any member of Congress. In the past, she has stated that the Constitution is 400 years old, that South Vietnam and North Vietnam still exist as two separate countries with North Vietnam ruling over South Vietnam, and wondered out loud if a Mars Rover mission would be driving past the spot on the moon where Neil Armstrong planted the American flag.
As a result of Hurricane Harvey, she was at it again. As most probably know, Harvey dumped dozens of inches of rain on Houston, the Congressional district of Jackson-Lee, which caused severe flooding. According to Jackson-Lee, that is because Houston sits 50 feet below sea level. That’s right, 50 feet below sea level. No wonder Houston flooded!
Well….not quite. Depending on what source you use, Houston is on average is 50 feet or more ABOVE sea level. No part of it is apparently at sea level, never mind 50 feet below sea level. How can a sitting member of Congress be so wrong about her own Congressional district? Talk about being out of touch.

4) One last quickie piece of insanity for today. If you have not heard, a sitting U.S. Senator, Robert Menendez, has just gone on trial for corruption. Yes, a current Senator is on trial. Nice set of people that run for and unfortunately, get elected to public office.
Now, obviously the Senator is innocent until proven guilty. However, there is enough smoke to have resulted in indictments and a trial for him and others. Given the track record of sitting politicians going to jail as a result of their greed and low morals, I know what side of the table I would place my bet on this trial.
That will do it for today’s insanity. Senator on trial, a Congresswoman who is clueless about her own district, a former President clueless about his legacy, and more food stamp fraud. More insanity to follow.
