July, 2019, Part 1, Political Class Insanity: A Snowflake Congresswoman Has Hurt Feelings, LA Humanitarians Call On Trump For Help and More

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) Readers of this blog know that we do not hold our Washington politicians in high esteem. In fact, we find the vast majority of them useless. Our public schools generally under educate our kids, our roads, dams, and bridges are falling apart, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are heading for bankruptcy, etc. and Washington politicians never seem to have the ability, the smarts, the will, or the courage to resolve any major issue facing the country.

In fact, this lunacy is what is top of mind for current Congresswoman, Frederica Wilson: “Those people who are online making fun of members of Congress are a disgrace. We’re gonna shut them down and work with whoever it is to shut them down, and they should be prosecuted. You cannot intimidate members of Congress, frighten members of Congress. It is against the law, and it’s a shame in this United States of America.”

Yes, Congresswoman, let's discard the First Amendment because you got your feelings hurt. Really? Where is it against the law to make fun of a politician? If you and other members of Congress ever resolved an issue, stopped wasting taxpayer money, or showed any compassion for Americans, maybe we would not make fun of you. Until then, shut up until you and your peers accomplish something of consequence and finally earn your cushy jobs, high salaries, and many benefits.

2) We have previously covered the disasters that Democratic politicians have turned their west coast cities into. From Seattle to Portland to San Francisco to Los Angeles, the Democrats that have controlled the city governments in these cities for decades are now faced with major homelessness, drug addiction, and sanitary issues on the streets of their cities. In the LA metro area alone there are almost 60,000 homeless Americans. In San Francisco, there are almost 30,000 homeless Americans.

Finally disgusted with their local politciians’inaiblity to fix this discouraging situation, homeless activists, in desperation, are turning to, gasp, a Republican President to help them help Americans, something their local, Democratic politicians have failed to do. Activist Alexandria Datig asked the President to get involved to help people like her to help the LA homeless population:

“Message to the President of the United States. Donald J. Trump. Urgent Call for Federal Intervention. Due to the state of emergency caused by homelessness in Los Angeles California. My name is Alexandra Datig and I am calling on the President of the United States to intervene in Los Angeles due to the state of emergency created by its homeless crisis.

In the county of Los Angeles, we have more than 59,000 people homeless. We have more than 36,300 people homeless in the city of Los Angeles, and we have more than 16,000 people living in his or her cars. We have more than 3,000 homeless veterans. Veteran homelessness was supposed to be ended by the year 2015 according to our mayor.

This has not happened.

We have had a 75% increase in homelessness in the past six years under the leadership of our mayor, Eric Garcetti. Our leaders, here in this city, have lost heart and cannot deal with the crisis at hand. Our police officers are getting sick; our social workers are getting sick. Our sanitation workers are being treated terribly. Trash problems are everywhere. We are having serious environmental crimes happening, every day, several times a day, where 59,000 people in the county of Los Angeles are dumping raw sewage into our storm drains, entering our waterways.

These are serious, serious environmental crimes. We have homeless youth; we have had, in the past five years, to 2018, more than 3,600 people die on the streets of Los Angeles. These people, who are living on the street, some of them, are sentenced to death by homelessness. This situation is completely unacceptable and we need a federal intervention immediately. We need FEMA; we need the Red Cross; we need the CDC and the Environmental Protection Agency.

We need immediate assistance. This is urgent. Immediate assistance is needed. Now. Today. No delay. Please, President Trump, we are calling on you: Help our city. Our citizens are dying; they will continue to die.”

Ms. Datig actually headed up a drive to have the LA mayor recalled that is how frustrated this activist has become: "We don't want any more excuses from this mayor. We want him to step down. We want him gone and we want leadership that is going to take care of this city. This city has become a death camp for the homeless."

Oh, and by the way, as reported by a local TV station, WRAL: “Figures released earlier this month showed a 16% jump in Los Angeles' homeless population over the last year, pegging it at 36,300 — the size of a small city. That's no surprise to anyone who lives or works downtown, where tents crowd sidewalks within sight of City Hall and the stench of urine fills the air.”

So the problem is really really bad and getting worse. And local politicians have no clue on how to fix it or at least mitigate the problem.Things are so bad that a dedicated citizen is calling for a Federal intervention.

Maybe if Washington politicians, e.g. Frederica Wilson, would stop complaining about being called names and being made fun of they actually could, for once, do something for Americans in need, in this case, in Los Angeles.

3) Ivanka Trump, daughter of President Donald Trump, accompanied her father to the recent G-20 summit in Japan. She served in a formal government capacity, meeting with the leaders of other governments and heading a U.S.delegation that was involved with women’s economic empowerment.

Well, this did not sit well with the Congressional gaffe machine from New York City, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who tweeted: “It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification. It hurts our diplomatic standing when the President phones it in & the world moves on. The US needs our President working the G20. Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either.”

Certainly her opinion and in fact, she may be right...for the first time ever. But I wonder if she would have been as upset and vocal when Obama named his wife, Michelle Obama, to head up the Federal school lunch programs in the fight against childhood obesity, a position she had NO experience, education, or training in. I doubt that would have irked the good Congresswoman.

I also wonder, but doubt, if Ocasio-Cortez would have been upset when during the Obama administration lucrative, high profile ambassadorships were doled out not to experienced State Department veterans but to those people who raised the most money for Obama’s election campaigns:

  • Kirk W.B. Wagar. Founder and managing partner of Wagar Law firm. Confirmed to Singapore, raised at least $1.2 million for Obama

  • Robert A. Sherman, Attorney at Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Nominated to Portugal, raised at least $550,000 for Obama
  • James Walter "Wally" Brewster, Senior managing partner at consulting firm SB&K Global. Confirmed to Dominican Republic, raised at least $500,000 for Obama
  • Colleen Bradley Bell, Producer for Bell-Phillip Television Productions. Nominated to Hungary, raised at least $500,000 for Obama
  • Anthony Luzzatto Gardner, Executive at private equity firm Palamon Capital Partners. Nominated to European Union, raised at least $500,000 for Obama
  • George J. Tsunis, Founder, chairman and CEO of Chartwell Hotels, LLC. Nominated to Norway, raised at least $500,000 for Obama
  • Keith Michael Harper, Lawyer with Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP. Nominated to UN Human Rights Council, raised at least $500,000 for Obama
  • Noah Bryson Mamet, Founder and president of consulting firm Noah Mamet & Associates. Nominated to Argentina, raised at least $500,000 for Obama
  • James Costos, Home Box Office (HBO) vice president. Confirmed to Spain and Andorra, raised at least $500,000 for Obama
  • Dwight L. Bush, Sr., President of financial and business consulting firm D.L. Bush & Associates. Nominated to Morocco, raised at least $500,000 for Obama
  • Michael Froman, Former deputy national security advisor. Confirmed to US Trade Representative, raised at least $500,000 for Obama.
As you can see Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, Obama treated plum ambassadorships as prizes in a game show based on how much election money was raised. In fact, over 56% of the ambassadorships during Obama’s term were assigned to political allies who probably had little or no diplomatic experience and whose only qualifications were that they made financial and/or political contributions to President Obama.

Now, I know that you were not around Washington during those years but your Democratic peers never complained when this type of nonsense was going on so please, shut up relative to Ivanka Trump who made this one trip, the hypocrisy is too overwhelming. Because I would bet that you would be no better than them if you were in Washington during those Obama ambassadorship auction years.

Okay, we are off to a good start to this month’s insanity: hypocrisy on ambassadorships, a cry for help out of LA, and a snowflake Congresswoman who had her feelings hurt while she and her peers continue to accomplish nothing.
