Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in man made global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have waded through the whole issue of man made global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:

• Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
• Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
• Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control on our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.

Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaims.

1) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a freshman Congresswoman from NYC. She has a bachelor's degree in business/economics. She was a bartender before somehow getting elected to Congress. Despite her college degree, she proved she had no idea how to calculate a simple unemployment rate. Despite running for Congress, she had no idea what the three branches of our government are. Despite representing the people of her district, she was so obnoxious that she chased Amazon out of her district and losing a once in a lifetime economic opportunity for her constituents.

Thus, given her track record of nothing, we probably should not take her latest climate prediction to heart. Specifically, her prediction said that, “When it comes to climate change, what is not realistic is not responding to the crisis — not responding with a solution on the scale of the crisis. Because what’s not realistic is Miami not existing in a few years. That’s not realistic. So, we need to be realistic about the problem.”

Given her history of being ignorant on anything, I do not think that Miami has anything to worry about despite her dire prediction. Why these folks think they know what is going on despite having absolutely no experience in any kind of science is mystifying. And their track record of predicting dire climate is abysmal. events 

2) We have often pointed out the reality that every single major climate change and global warming forecast of the past three decades has been dramatically and embarrassingly wrong. The following video highlights some scientific findings and forecasts that sound awfully like current global warming advocates but actually are about one hundred years old:

As you can see, so-called experts were forecasting the end of the Earth and humanity, see Ocasio-Cortez’s prediction above, a century ago and they were also wrong. 

3) According to a recent article on the Godfather Politics website by Warner Todd Huston, an expedition going to the Arctic was looking for global warming evidence. Unfortunately, they ran into a some challenges:

• MOSAiC is short for Multidisciplinary Drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate.
• It involves climate researchers from 20 countries and its main objective is to study the effects of global warming in the Arctic.
• Unfortunately, they have not been able to do a lot of research since their icebreaker, Polarstein, has been locked in Arctic ice since last October, certainly curtailing the ability to move around and do their research.

Such a shame that studying global warming gets blocked by too much ice being around.

4) Global warming advocates have blamed a whole set of various realities for global warming, from suburban lawns to beavers building dams. But they are not done looking for culprits to blame for the myth of manmade global warming:

• According to a new study, staying home to watch Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime on your home television is a major cause of climate change.
• The research estimated that watching just a half hour show from a streaming company such as Netflix causes 1.6 kilograms of carbon dioxide to be released into the air.
• The researcher, Maxime Efoui-Hess of the nonprofit group, the Shift Project, claims that watching the show is the same as driving almost four miles.
• The study also claims that accessing online pornography is also causing global warming.
• This program streaming and online porn causes the computer servers which carry the shows and porn to contribute .3% of all human carbon emissions.

So, rather than driving your two ton car to a movie theater more than four miles away for entertainment, you decided to stay home, car in the garage, and watch a TV show. But alas, you shouldn't do that either since this sitting at home causes global warming. 

So watching TV at home, having a nice front yard, and allowing beavers to do what they have been doing for millions of years causes global warming and needs to stop. I guess the solution is to kill all the beavers, let our lawn go to pot and just sit home alone without TV in order to save the world. Sounds about right.

As a statistician by training, global warming advocates appear to abide by this old statistical fallacy: “If you torture the data long enough it will confess to anything.” These folks will torture any data set any way in order to justify their global warming fears.

September, 2019, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: Too Much Ice At The Arctic, Evil Leaky Gas Stoves, and Hurricane Myths Debunked

It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have dove into the whole issue of manmade global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:

• Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
• Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
• Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control on our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.

1) We have often discussed how every major and possibly every minor forecast of what man made global warming would do to the Earth was grossly wrong. Not a little wrong, not somewhat wrong, horrifically wrong. For example, Al Gore once estimated that within ten years there was a very good chance that the North Pole would be ice free. Did not come close to happening.

Thus, it is tough to take any man made global warming hysteria seriously, given this failed track record. A recent article on the Godfather Politics website is another example of how global warming advocates have suffered another embarrassing situation:

• Warner Todd Huston, writing on September 10, 2019, related how a boat load of global warming advocates got trapped in the Arctic because of, wait for it, too much ice.
• An Arctic tour ship, MS MALMO, was taking 16 passengers up to the North Pole.
• Halfway between Norway and the North Pole the ship got stuck in ice on September 3 off of the Longyearbyen Svalbard Archipelago.
• On board was a documentary film crew who were investigating climate change and the possible melting of Arctic ice.
• The 16 passengers were rescued by helicopter while 7 crew members remained behind, waiting for rescue from the ice.
• According to the article, this is the sixth year in a row where global warming advocates went north looking for the shrinking ice sheet and ended up getting trapped in the Arctic ice and needed to be rescued.
• For example: “The Polar Ocean Challenge set out on a two-month campaign hoping to prove that the ice at the North Pole was melting. As the expedition’s website explains, the group aimed to show “that the Arctic sea ice coverage shrinks back so far now in the summer months that sea that was permanently locked up now can allow passage through. Despite their best intentions to show that the ice is melting and the temperature at the pole is higher than normal, the group has only been confronted with the exact opposite as ice continues to block their path.”

Einstein once said that “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” Global warming advocates keep advocating the same thing over and over and are never right. The continual excursions to the North Pole and the continued getting stuck in the ice that overwhelms them is insanity.

2) Although global warming advocates and forecasts have always been wrong, that never stops them with coming up with zanier and zanier ways to address the myth of global warming and make life inconvenient and more expensive for the rest of us. Consider another recent article from the Godfather Politics website:

• We have previously reported on a number of things that cause global warming, from farting cows to beavers building dams.
• Warner Todd Huston writing on September 9, 2019, reported that global warming advocates say that leaking gas stoves are a global warming and climate change nemesis.
• Yes, a leaky fitting on your kitchen stove is killing humanity.
• Never mind that China and India are planning to put 2,500 additional coal generating plants online to feed their energy leads, your GE kitchen gas stove is going to put us over the edge.
• This is serious since some cities are actually moving to outlaw gas stoves in residential homes: “Berkeley, California, in July became the first U.S. city to pass an ordinance banning gas systems in new buildings, and it may soon be followed by many others, according to interviews with local officials, activists and industry groups.”
• LA and Seattle are also considering similar rules and laws.

The sad part of all of this is the increased use of natural gas has helped the U.S. lead the world in reducing its carbon footprint. But the same people that want everyone to reduce their carbon footprint are now going nuts on the those of us that are actually reducing carbon output. 

Did these folks think about how the electricity will be created to power electric stoves that are replacing the gas stoves? What if it is oil or coal producing the electricity for these new electric stoves, won’t that actually increase carbon output?

From cows to beavers to clean burning gas stoves, is nothing out of bounds for these folks? Rather than work on these nickel/dime nits of problems, would it not be more productive to work to get those 2,500 coal burning plants diverted into a cleaner fuel like….natural gas? Such bad priorities.

3) Global warming advocates can always rely on the mainstream press to support their climate myths. Such was the case recently when Hurricane Dorian was churning off of the Florida coast. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer wasted no time attributing the hurricane to, you guessed it, humanity’s carbon footprint: “This unprecedented town hall is dedicated to the climate crisis, an issue many voters say it needs to happen now and scientists say that action needs to happen now. We’re seeing firsthand the effects of climate change as a powerful Atlantic hurricane is sitting right now off the coast of Florida. It could make landfall tomorrow in South Carolina.”

If Blitzer was correct, one would expect the most powerful hurricanes to be more frequent and intense in the more recent times than previously. It makes sense, mankind’s use of carbon based fuels has increased over time so it makes sense in these folks’ minds that hurricanes and adverse weather should be getting worse over time.

But is that actually the case? There are scientific measurements of hurricanes that have been done for hurricanes. And guess what? Some of the most intense hurricanes have happened long ago, way before the global warming/climate change myths took place.

Consider what the most terrible hurricanes were from a Hurricane Severity Index perspective:

 Observations:

• The most severe hurricane happened 48 years ago in 1961, during a time when there was far less carbon already in the atmosphere and being dumped into it every year.
• Four of the top seven the most severe hurricanes happened before 1969.
• Six of the top ten hurricanes did not happen in this century.
• None of the top ten most severe hurricanes have occurred in the past 11 years.

You get the idea. If global warming and climate change due to humanity was a real thing, then the most severe hurricanes should have occurred more frequently and more recently. But that is not the case. Hurricane Katrina, which was supposed to be the trend setter way back in 2005 never set any trend. The really bad hurricanes occurred long before there was such a large carbon footprint in the world.

Climate change has been occurring since the beginning of time. It continues today. But to say we must drastically change our life style, i.e. stop beaver dam building, kill all the cows, and dump gas ranges, is an idiotic idea relative to real science and real data. Sorry, Wolf, there is no climate crisis, just the natural flow of Mother Natural. For once, look at the damn data.

June, 2019, Part 1, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: More Failed Doomsday Climate Predictions

On a periodic basis, we revisit a continuing theme in this blog, “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” Several years ago we started investigating the viability of this position for a number of reasons:

• It did not appear that global warming advocates were looking at all of the available global warming science, realities, and trends, just those select pieces of information that supported their position.
• There seemed to be a growing sense of doubt among scientists about whether or not global warming was actually a real thing.
• We were getting tired of Al Gore and others of his ilk who constantly were calling those that were undecided about global warming a whole litany of slurs including racists, homophobes, and other insulting terms.

After researching and writing about dozens of global warming information sources, we have proven over and over that it is perfectly logical to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science:

• Realities show that global warming actually stopped about 18 years ago, causing global warming advocates to rebrand their position as “climate change” since “global warming” was no longer an emerging reality.
• Turns out the major global warming forecast models all turned out to be grossly inaccurate in predicting future climate and warming trends, throwing into doubt whether any man made global warming or climate change was actually happening.
• Major and reputable scientists and science organizations (e.g. the renowned CERN Institute) were either originally determining that man made global warming and climate control never existed or changing their position to become doubters of what they may have original believed about global warming.
• Important and prominent scientists around the world were caught manipulating climate data to verify their false claims and forecast models or were outed for at least contemplating changing real world data to match their ill performing analyses and forecasting models.

Previous exposes’ of global warming and climate change theories by using real world numbers, scientific experiments, and the simple act of observing can be accessed in this blog by typing “I am a global warming doubter” in the search box above. At that point, you will be provided many previous posts from this blog including dozens and dozens of information sources that more and more point to a repudiation of Al Gore and others, man made global warming, and man made climate change. The latest proof that you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in sciences is discussed below:

1) Nicolas Loris, writing for the Heritage Foundation on April 22, 2019, reminded us that “On Earth Day, Gloomy Predictions Haven’t Come To Pass:”

• Earth Day was first celebrated in April, 1970 and since then on subsequent Earth Days “experts” have scared us with their gloom and doom predictions of what mankind was doing to Mother Nature and the climate.
• For example, note ecologist Kenneth Watt predicted that, “By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate … that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, ‘Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, ‘I am very sorry, there isn’t any.'” 
• Nineteen years later the world is awash in oil, cars that burn that oil burn it much more cleanly and efficiently, and with no end in sight of running out of oil.
• Watt also predicted that global cooling, not global warming, and nitrogen buildup in the atmosphere would make entire planet’s land unusable.
• Decades later most of the land on Earth is still usable and by some measures has never been more productive.
• According to the EPA’s research the combined emissions of the six common air pollutants has decreased a whopping 73% between 1970 and 2017.
• In fact, research by the World Bank and the United Nations show that extreme poverty and hunger has dropped considerably since that first Earth Day in 1970.

Watt is not the only expert to be so wrong so long ago even though their “expert” predictions at the time scared the life out of us. And as time has gone by, the experts in global warming have also shown to be no better than Watt and others predicting the future.

2) The same article uncovered a very interesting set of statistics, a set that should really cause liberals and global warming advocates to go crazy. Most of the most ardent global warming advocates are Democrats and socialists who see government control, higher taxes, more regulations, and the reduction in personal freedom as the only way to save the Earth. 

Consider two pieces of research:

1. The Heritage Foundation does an annual index study which measures the relative personal freedom of every country.
2. Yale University does an Environmental Performance Index that measures countries’ good or bad behaviors against the environment.

And guess what: if you put the two indexes together there is a very high correlation between the two indexes, namely the more freedom a country tolerates the better that country performs relative to the environment. In other words, oppressive government restrictions, taxes and regulations, three things that suppress freedom, are the exact opposite of what should be done when it comes to protecting the Earth. 

According to the article: “Freer economies have access to more products and technologies that make our lives healthier and the environment cleaner. For instance, the availability of simple products such as soaps, cleaners, and detergents makes our homes dramatically cleaner and healthier. The development of sanitation systems and availability of garbage collection greatly reduce many types of diseases and reduce toxins in the air and water. These products and services may not be what immediately comes to mind on Earth Day, but they’ve had an enormous impact on cleaning up the planet.”

So the next time a liberal or Democratic friend espouses how we need government, politicians, and bureaucrats to reduce our freedom to save the world, tell him or her that they are wrong. Freedom heals poverty and now it appears that freedom heals the world.

3) The League Of Power website on April 30, 2019, also went about “Debunking the Latest Climate Change Lies:”

• In reality, from a global warming perspective, the Earth has not gotten warmer for almost two decades despite the dire warnings from global warming experts that failed to take into account that warming would stop.
• In fact, in total, the Earth on average has actually cooled for the past four years or so, another reality that was never predicted by global warming advocates
• In addition, the U.S, has led the world in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions despite pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement.
• Even the United Nations climate organization, IPCC, has pulled back on its doomsday prediction, claiming back in an October report that “dangerous climate change is half as likely as the IPCC postulated in their 2007 assessment.”
• According to the Federal government’s NOAA research, the Arctic is in the midst of a multi-year cooling period.
• Also, the glacial ice in Greenland has stopped shrinking and is now in a growth mode at the fastest rate ever.
• Carbon dioxide levels today are almost twice as high than what they were in the 1950s and yet there has been no runaway increases in global warming.

Okay that will do it for today. Future predictions about climate disasters have not come true, the key to keeping Mother Nature healthy is personal freedom, global warming increases stopped two decades ago, we are actually seeing some global cooling going on, a major glacier is getting larger at a rapid rate, our air is considerably cleaner than it was back in the 1970s, the Arctic is cooling and the U.S. leads the world in reducing its carbon footprint. So much for the gloom and doomers like Al Gore.

1) If manmade global warming was a reality then one would not expect the ice sheets at the North and South poles to be expanding. In fact, Al Gore predicted about a decade ago that there was a more than even chance that by 2015 the Arctic ice sheet would be completely melted due to manmade global warming. Scary stuff.

But in reality, the poles’ ice has not completely melted. It has actually been growing despite mankind pumping more and more carbon into the atmosphere over time:

• Earlier this year, real scientists reported that the Arctic ice cap was actually expanding by one million square miles of ice.
• Now NASA has reported that the Antarctic ice sheet is also getting larger and larger over time.
• More snow and ice is being added than the amount of volume being lost by the Antarctic glaciers.
• The NASA satellite data showed that the Antarctic ice sheet has grown by more than 112 billion tons of ice a YEAR from 1992 to 2001 when the annual net gain slowed to only 82 billion tons of ice every year from 2003 to 2008. 
• At this rate of slowing, ice would continue to be added to the South Pole ice sheet for another thirty years or so.

Thus, another example where global warming advocates’ forecast models prove to be totally ineffective and inacccurate. No notable global warming model predicted that the amount of snow and ice at the poles would be INCREASING over time which is what actually happened. Thus, maybe we should all take a deep breath and now have an adult conversation on the climate? Because continuing to yell that the “science is settled” is no longer a valid claim.

2) We have previously reported that many state attorney generals, all Democrats, are actually pressing to prosecute any American citizen who dares to be a global warming doubter. Given that we have proven dozens and dozens of times that there are significant and valid reasons to be a global warming doubter using ALL of the available science, research, and statistics available, this overstepping of by these attorney generals is nothing more than the destruction of the First Amendment.

And most Americans agree with this position that prosecuting anyone who has a different opinion than a politician is not a good thing. According to a recent article on the Fix The Nation website, “According to a new Rasmussen Reports poll, 69% of likely U.S. voters reject the idea of letting the government investigate and prosecute companies or individuals that question the consensus view of climate change. Only 15% of those surveyed said they would support such investigations.

Interestingly, this idea does not even have widespread support among registered Democrats. The poll shows that only 21% of Democratic voters support prosecuting climate change “deniers.” In fact, the poll reveals that only 28% of Democrats believe that the scientific debate about climate change is settled.”

Just like just about every other issue facing Americans today, from gun control to individual freedom to race relations to immigration to energy strategies, the American political class is out of step with the rest of the country. This is what happens when greedy, ego driven, and small minded people get elected, they think they know what is best when they do not even know reality.

3) Above we discussed the reality that the South Pole ice sheets continue to grow at a steady pass even though mankind continues to use carbon based fuel sources. But things are not much different at the North Pole. A recent expedition to the North Pole to measure the impacts of global warming had to be stopped when the ship transporting the scientists was stopped by ice packs near Murmansk, Russia.

The expedition was named the Polar Ocean Challenge and it was trying to do a two month trip to prove: “that the Arctic sea ice coverage shrinks back so far now in the summer months that sea that was permanently locked up now can allow passage through.” 

Apparently that objective failed when there was so much ice that the ship could not get through, likely due to lower than expected temperatures.

4) Let's finish off today’s global warming doubter post with a retro look back. Back in 2008, ABC News warned that New York City would be under water by 2015 due to manmade global warming. They also had a bunch of forecasts that did not quite work out: 

• New York City would be under water.
• Gas would cost over $9 a gallon.
• A carton of milk would cost almost $13.
