The Failed Presidency of Barack Obama, Part 4: Abusing The Constitution and The Rule Of Law

We are spending week or so reviewing the performance and results of the Obama administration from a number of different perspectives. We will be covering some new ground besides reposting some previous reviews in different areas that we have done on this administration.

I will be honest upfront and tell you that I see very little positive coming out of this administration. I believe, based on the discussion that we will have over the next week or so, that this is the most inept, corrupt, illegal, and dysfunctional Presidential administration in my lifetime, worse even than the Carter administration. General categories of incompetence include the following broad categories:

• Promises not kept or that were originally never meant to be kept and were just deceptions from the start.
• Government functions that are dysfunctional, obese, inefficient, and ineffective but very expensive from a taxpayer perspective.
• Constitutional violations that are widespread and destructive.
• Law breaking by many different members of this administration that are widespread and destructive.
• Government spending that is out of control, threatening the fundamental existence of this country; economy and democracy.
• Major issues that have not been addressed in any strategic or tactical way, e.g. failing public education, leaky borders, a lots war on drugs, crumbling infrastructure, etc.
• A Presidential leadership team that would rather play golf, attend political fund raisers, appear in nonsensical videos, host athletic teams, and take worldwide and expensive vacations but not resolve ANY issue facing the country.

Now, before any readers get crazy partisan and start accusing me of a hatchet job, consider the following:

• I have never voted for a Republican for President in my life.
• Up until 2010, I had never voted for a Republican for national office in my life (I am over 60 years old). 
• Most of my votes through the decades for local, county, and state offices have not been Republican.

Thus, by no stretch of the imagination am I anti-Obama because I am a Republican. I am an American who has looked at the facts and realities of this Presidency, facts and realities that we will lay out over the next week, and have come to the conclusion that this has been the worst, most secretive, most ineffective, most destructive, and most illegal Presidential administration my lifetime and possibly in the country’s lifetime. As someone recently said, the Obama Presidency is a Presidency that Nixon aspired to from a corruption and illegality perspective, certainly not a compliment.

Yesterday we looked at the many email scandals of this administration where high ranking members of the government blatantly violated Federal law to conceal their activities from America. Two days ago we looked at the many,many broken promises,lies, and deceptions of this Presidency, rendering its integrity and ability to lead useless.

Over yesterday, today, and tomorrow we will be revisiting previous posts from early 2014 where we laid out over a hundred reasons why this Presidency is a failure and quite possibly impeachable. Even after these first five posts we will have more material and proof that this is likely the worst Presidential administration of all time, criminal, inept, and vindictive.

Grounds For Impeachment, Part 2: The Obama Administration's Fire, Smoke, and Kindling Abuse Of The Constitution and the Rule of Law

Yesterday, we presented the first set of potential impeachment charges against President Obama for alleged crimes and violations of existing laws, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. That first set of allegations can be accessed at:

That post followed three other posts where we laid out over 60 reasons and failures that do not rise to the levels worthy of impeachment and removal from office. The first post in that three part series can be accessed at:

We reminded readers in those three posts that you cannot remove a President from office:

• For having ineffective and/or stupid policies. 
• For being ineffective in executing his duties of office. 
• For being arrogant, narcissistic, and pompous.
• For waging class warfare and dividing the nation into voting blocs.
• For lying about his past or his promises.
• For presiding over an economy where over 20 million Americans are under employed or unemployed and where almost 50 million Americans receive Federal government food assistance are not grounds for impeachment.
• For running up astronomical national debt levels so that the debt burden in the country is over $50,000 per person is not grounds for impeachment.
• For having an effective foreign policy strategy is not grounds for impeachment.
• For failing to rein in wasteful government spending is not grounds for impeachment.
• For lying about how things are or will be in the Presidential administration are not grounds for impeachment.
• For dissing our veterans in so many ways are not grounds for impeachment.

However, while those 60 or so failures are not grounds for impeachment and removal from office, there are numerous breeches of laws, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights that have emanated out of this Presidential administration. And it is those actions that we started reviewing yesterday and we will continue to review, discuss, and present today and tomorrow, actions that we believe warrant and require the Congress to institute impeachment proceedings against this President.

Our grounds for impeachment are to be presented in three categories:

1. Fire: obvious grounds for impeachment that require very little additional research and analysis before being presented to the Senate as articles of impeachment.
2. Smoke: probably grounds for impeachment that require some additional research and analysis before being presented to the Senate as articles of impeachment.
3. Kindling: possibly grounds for impeachment that require a lot of additional research and analysis before being presented to the Senate as articles of impeachment but if true, would easily end the current Presidential administration.

Today we continue with potential impeachable offenses in each of the “Fire” category and tomorrow we will conclude our impeachment discussion with the “Smoke” and “Kindling” categories:

The “Fire” reasons why President Obama should face impeachment proceedings, a continuing discussion that was started yesterday with the first five "fire" reasons:

6) He unilaterally delayed the small business (SHOP) mandates from his own Obama Care legislation, without Congressional approval, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

7) He unilaterally delayed the employer mandates, without Congressional approval, from his own Obama Care legislation without Congressional, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

8) He unilaterally decided, without Congressional approval, that Obama Care enrollees in states using only the Federal health care exchange, i.e. those states that did not set up their own Obama Care exchange, would also be eligible for Obama Care subsidies, violating his own Obama Care legislation and violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

9) He unilaterally decided, without Congressional approval, that those personal insurance policies that insurance companies had to legally terminate as a result of Obama Care could indeed stay in effect, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

10) He unilaterally decided, without Congressional approval, to change out many more tenets and deadlines of the Obama Care legislation (e.g. delaying the caps on out of pocket medical expenses, waiving the income proof requirement for subsidies, waiving the criminal background checks on Obama Care navigators, etc.), violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

11) His administration has hassled, spied on, harassed, and threatened a multitude of journalists including, but not likely limited to, Bob Woodward, Lanny Davis, Fox News employees James Rosen and Mike Levine, Sheryl Atkinson, Audrey Hudson (whose home was ransacked by Department of homeland Security armed personnel who confiscated her journalistic files despite serving a court order that was restricted to only looking for guns), Associated Press reporters, and others, violating their First Amendment rights.

12) When a the Egyptian military staged an coup and overturned a democratically elected government, he refused to cut off aid to that military ruling junta as required by U.S. law, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

13) His administration allowed lucrative taxpayer funded financial credits to Congressional members and their staffs to pay for Obama Care policies in violation of the Obama Care legislation, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

14) His Obama Care legislation forced individuals, companies, and charities to violate their own religious beliefs relative to contraception and birth control, violating those citizens’ and organizations’ First Amendment rights.

15) He illegally made government appointments to high level government positions while the Senate was still in session, violating Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution.

16) He ignored the ruling of a Federal judge in Louisiana regarding the administration’s illegal moratorium on Gulf oil drilling, resulting in the following stinging rebuke from the judge:

“Each step the government took following the court’s imposition of a preliminary injunction showcases its defiance, Such dismissive conduct, viewed in tandem with the re-imposition of a second blanket and substantively identical moratorium, and in light of the national importance of this case, provide this court with clear and convincing evidence of the government’s contempt.”

17) His administration’s unparalleled invasion of citizens’ privacy via the warrantless and groundless interception and storage of just about every citizens’ electronic and other communications via the National Security agency and other government entities is a gross violation and insult to every citizens’ First and Fourth Amendment rights.

18) He unilaterally decided not to enforce the DOMA law, without Congressional approval, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

19) He illegally violated immigration laws by forbidding the deportation of illegal aliens, without the approval of Congress, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

20) His administration illegally used the IRS to harass and minimize the impact and activities of conservative and other contrary political action organizations, violating those citizens’ First Amendment rights.

21) He illegally created a “shadow government” by establishing a so-call “czar” system in order to bypass the Constitutionally required Congressional approvals of high ranking government positions, violating Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution. 

22) His administration violated existing laws by failing to produce a Federal budget proposal on time in four of the first five years of this administration, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

23) His administration illegally demanded monetary kickbacks (often exuberant kickbacks) from American organizations requesting government documents under the Freedom of Information Act, (FOIA), requests that by law have to be provided for free or for a very small processing cost, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

24) His administration demanded that the Ford Motor company stop showing a Ford television commercial that mentioned that its competitors, General Motors and Chrysler, had received Federal bailout money, a violation of the company’s First Amendment rights.

25) His administration coldly ignored the request for military help, help that was readily available, when the U.S. Benghazi consulate and nearby adjacent annex were under siege by terrorists, a siege that endangered the lives of about 24 American citizens and resulted in the unnecessary death of four of those brave citizens violating their pursuit of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

26) His administration illegally used resources of the Federal government to inhibit and harass companies (e.g. Gibson Guitar, Boeing’s planned move of jobs to South Carolina, etc.) whose political agenda did not line up with the President’s political agenda, abusing the power of his office and the executive branch for political gain, violating Section 2, Articles 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

27) His administration intentionally violated the WARN act by telling companies to not announce layoffs that were in compliance with the WARN Act prior to the 2012 Presidential election, promising to pay any fines Act in the future with taxpayer money those companies may incur as a result of violating the WARN as requested by the Obama administration.

28) His administration violated the Welfare Reform Act of 1996 by illegally allowing able bodied welfare recipients not to fulfill the weekly work requirements of that legislation.

That's enough for today, 28 pretty good slam dunk reasons why impeachment proceedings and eventually removal from office proceedings should commence for this Presidential administration. 

But we are not done. Tomorrow we will present dozens of other likely reasons for impeachment, reasons that may not be quite as strong as these 28 but strong enough to warrant investigation and probable inclusion in the eventual final list of charges. As you will see both today and tomorrow, we are witnessing the most lawless Presidential administration in the history of our nation, an administration that needs to be stopped.

Part 5, Why The Obama Administration Deserves Its Ranking As The Worst Presidency Since 1945

A recent public opinion poll conducted by Quinnipiac University, a traditional and unbiased source of public opinion, asked a sample of Americans who they thought operated the worst Presidency since 1945. Barack Obama won a plurality of votes in that poll for being the worst U.S. President since 1945. 33% of respondents named him as the worst President over the past seven decades with George W, Bush finishing second at 28%. 

Both of them far outpolled who I generally consider the two worst Presidents of the past hundred years, Jimmy Carter (8%) for being a President who was clueless and totally ineffective, and Richard Nixon (13%) for simply being a vindictive crook. America has to be pretty disgusted with your Presidential administration when you are mentioned 2-4 more times than either Carter or Nixon as the worst President since 1945.

During this week, we are exploring the overwhelming number of reasons while this result for President Obama is not only rational but is well deserved. Before anyone starts with their counter arguments or disputing my list of Obama policy failures, criminal acts, economic ignorance, violations of the Constitution, and broken promises, keep in mind the following facts:

• I have never voted for a Republican for President in my life and I am over 60 years old
• Up until November, 2010, I had never voted for a Republican for national office
• In the first two years of his Presidency, Obama’s party was in control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate with filibuster proof majorities in both places, I.e. he could have done anything he wanted politically and legislatively without any assist from any Republican
• I am not saying that anyone else would have resolved all of the issues listed below but it is difficult to think that at least some of these issues would have been resolved by people such as Truman, Kennedy, or Reagan. The Obama Presidency has been so bad that just about every issue and problem listed below is actually far WORST rather than BETTER since the onset of the Obama administration.
• Consider an old saying: “Don’t tell me how rough the seas were, just tell me you brought the boat safely into the harbor.” In other words, a true leader takes the blame and gives the credit. No one forced Obama to become President, he knew the situation he was getting into. He should be judged on how well he managed the situation he inherited going forward. Unfortunately, instead of leadership and looking forward, he chose instead to whine, look backwards, and to blame others for his failures rather than focusing on moving forward from whatever adverse situation he inherited.

Okay, so that sets out the preliminaries: I am not a conservative, a Republican, or a neocon trying to tear down this President. This President could have done anything he wanted in the first two years of his tenure, he cannot blame the Republicans for blocking anything he failed at since he had a historic window of political opportunity. Instead of leveraging the window and leading the country, he chose to blame the previous President, the Japanese tsunami, ATM machines, and a whole host of other factors in the absence of Presidential leadership.

Thus, without any further delay and in no particular order, consider the twenty reasons why the Quinnipiac public opinion poll is probably an accurate view of why America rates the Obama administration as the worst Presidential administration in the past 70 years or so:

87) His administration illegally demanded monetary kickbacks (often exuberant kickbacks) from American organizations requesting government documents under the Freedom of Information Act, (FOIA), requests that by law have to be provided for free or for a very small processing cost, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

93) He refused to fire Eric Holder, the Attorney General of the United States, after Holder testified before Congress that he was unaware that the Justice Department was harassing journalist James Rosen even though Holder had signed off on the harassing investigation, becoming an accessory after the fact of the crime. 

94) His administration directly harassed and pressured insurance companies and insurance company executives not to publish or discuss the very disappointing number of people that had signed up for Obama Care insurance policies, violating their First Amendment rights. 

95) His administration asked and/or forced contractors to disclose their political contributions be fore being allowed to bid on Federal contracts and projects, violating those contractors’ First Amendment rights. 

96) He refused to fire 15 IRS agents who illegally stole the medical records of 10 million American citizens, becoming an accessory after the fact of the crime. 

97) Failed to fire Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius after she allegedly pressured insurance companies to contribute to the promotion and advancement of Obama Care, becoming an accessory after the fact of the crime

98) Failed to fire Kathleen Sebelius after she violated the Hatch Law when she campaigned/endorsed a Democrat for office in North Carolina, becoming an accessory after the fact after the fact of the crime. 

99) He allegedly told the EPA to unilaterally set emissions standards and bypass Congress, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution. 

100) His destruction of citizens’ privacy via the massive and illegal spying of the National Security Agency and other government entities destroys the underpinnings of the Roe Vs. Wade Supreme Court ruling which was based on the principle of privacy. If this concept of privacy is destroyed by NSA and other government spying, i.e. if there is no privacy now in this country given that the government spies on every citizens’ electronic and other forms of communication, there is not right to an abortion in this country.

101) His administration violated the Federal Information Security Information Act (FISMA) by giving the Obama Care information systems infrastructure “authority to operate” even though it failed the required FISMA’s security control assessment. 

102) According to a Federal judge’s ruling, his administration illegally tried to avoid disclosure of a foreign aid directive. 

103) His administration illegally intruded into the General Motors bankruptcy proceedings to illegally rob General Motors bond holders of their due while protecting his politically friendly union interests. 

104) His administration violated the Solyndra loan agreement and illegally moved an Obama financial political backer ahead of the Federal government and American taxpayer in the Solyndra bankruptcy proceedings, resulting in the American taxpayer getting less out of those proceedings than legally permissible.

We will wrap up this extensive topic in tomorrow's post where we will review the last set of reasons why the Obama Presidency is the worst since 1945. We will also summary all 114 reasons in the context of what an abject failure we have had to live thtough via the Obama adminsitraiton, a Presidency that will leave the ocuntry far worse off after it en ds than when it began.

The Lawlessness Of Cliven Bundy and Barack Obama

Many of you are probably aware that there is a major confrontation going on in the southern Nevada between a long time rancher family headed by Cliven Bundy, and the Federal government’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The core issue is that the BLM is trying to take over the Bundy ranch, claiming that the family has not paid the necessary and legal Federal grazing range fees for about twenty years, owing the government and American taxpayer about a million in back fees. To accomplish this action, the BLM has sent an estimated 200 agents with snipers and helicopters to reign in this supposed lawlessness, confiscate Bundy’s cattle, and force his eviction.

Bundy claims that he is being hassled by an oppressive Federal government that seeks to illegally steal his ranch that has been in the family since the 1870s, long before the BLM came into existence. He claims that he has tried to pay the fees to the local and state government, government entities that he recognizes as the legal and rightful caretakers of the Nevada range but that his efforts to pay fees have been refused. 

The situation is made more dangerous be the fact that this issue has struck a chord with Americans across the country, a civilian being bullied by an oppressive government for no reason. Additionally, there are numerous news stories being published that this has nothing to do with the Bundys not paying their Federal range fees, that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his lobbyist son, Rory Reid, are behind the latest power move in order to free up this rancher’s land and range for a solar energy investment of Chinese investors. 

These are the same Chinese investors that allegedly had previously and illegally contributed to Harry Reid’s election campaigns. The fact that the Bundy conflict has been gong on for years and years and it is only now that the Federal government is trying to force him off of his land, adds a little credence to this theory.

As you can see, a really big mess, a mess that could turn real ugly real fast in that the many Americans coming from across the country to support the Bundy family are coming with legally owned firearms. Combine their firearms with the firearms and recently used tasers of BLM agents in a hot Nevada desert, where tempers have been flaring, and you have a powder keg for violence. Let us hope that calmer heads and rationale thought prevail before anyone gets hurt.

Now, one could make the case that Bundy is violating Federal law, he readily admits that he has not paid the mandatory range fees. As such, he should either be prosecuted for disobeying the law or work within the system to have those laws and fees changed. 

However, the Federal government and the Obama administration, the overall leader of the BLM would be on shaky legal and moral ground trying to prosecute Bundy. Why? This administration and this President have been the largest law breakers and purveyor of illegal acts in the history of Presidential administrations.

It would be incredibly hypocritical to try and prosecute Bundy by an administration that has flagrantly ignored the Constitution, existing Federal laws, the separation of powers within our structure of government, and judicial rulings. When elected officials ignore the rule of law, it is not surprising that private citizens feel no obligation to follow the letter or spirit of the law. 

That is the quandary that the Obama administration has created. By ignoring the rule of law in this country so many times, it sets the stage for the rule of law being disrespected by everyone else in the country. Those in the BLM and the administration need to review their following egregious violations of the Constitution and existing laws and then honestly ask themselves if they have the moral authority to hassle and evict a single Nevada rancher, especially if it is for personal enrichment of a leading member of Congress and his family:

1)President Obama unilaterally involved the United States in a major and expensive military action against the country of Libya, without the approval of Congress, violating the War Powers Act and Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution.

2) Obama refused to fire James Clapper, a high ranking member of the President’s national security team, after Clapper blatantly lied to Congress about how much electronic information the National Security Agency (NSA) was collecting on every American citizen, becoming an accessory after the fact in Clapper's lying to Congress.

3) Obama signed the latest NDAA legislation which allows for the indefinite detention of American citizens, without trial, who the government considers terrorist suspects until the vague “end of hostilities,” which violates the habeas corpus protection of American citizens under Article I Section 9 of the Constitution.

4) Obama signed off on the assassination of American citizens in foreign lands, negating the rights, and lives of at least four American citizens, violating their right “to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” the Fourth Amendment, and the Sixth Amendment to the Constitution.

5) The Obama administration has repeatedly denied members of our armed forces to their right to personally celebrate, follow, and take comfort in their personal Christian religion and faith, violating the First Amendment to the Constitution.

6) The Obama administration’s deployment of the Fast and Furious gun running operation to supply weapons to violent Mexican drug cartels has violated any number of laws including the illegal shipment of weapons to criminal organizations, violations of international treaties regarding illegal gun smuggling, abetting the violence of those cartels who used Fast and Furious weapons to kill innocent Mexican civilians and a U.S. border agent, Brian Terry, and denying Congressional investigators access to pertinent Fast and Furious executive branch documents needed to investigate the alleged transgressions.

6) The Obama administration has unilaterally, illegally, and un-Constitutionally changed numerous aspects of the Obama Care legislation including delaying the small business insurance program (SHOP),unilaterally delaying the legislation’s employer mandates, unilaterally declaring that Obama Care enrollees in states using only the Federal health care exchange, i.e. those states that did not set up their own Obama Care exchange, would also be eligible for Obama Care subsidies, unilaterally decreeing that personal insurance policies that insurance companies had to legally terminate as a result of Obama Care could indeed stay in effect, unilaterally deciding, without Congressional approval, to change out many more tenets and deadlines of the Obama Care legislation, etc. all acts that violated Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

10) His Obama Care legislation forced individuals, companies, and charities to violate their own religious beliefs relative to contraception and birth control, violating those citizens’ and organizations’ First Amendment rights.

11) He illegally made government appointments to high level government positions while the Senate was still in session, violating Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution.

12) The Obama administration ignored the ruling of a Federal judge in Louisiana regarding the administration’s illegal moratorium on Gulf oil drilling, resulting in the following stinging rebuke from the judge:

“Each step the government took following the court’s imposition of a preliminary injunction showcases its defiance, Such dismissive conduct, viewed in tandem with the re-imposition of a second blanket and substantively identical moratorium, and in light of the national importance of this case, provide this court with clear and convincing evidence of the government’s contempt.”

13) The Obama administration’s unparalleled invasion of citizens’ privacy via the warrantless and groundless interception and storage of just about every citizens’ electronic and other communications via the National Security agency and other government entities is a gross violation and insult to every citizens’ First and Fourth Amendment rights.

14) He unilaterally decided not to enforce the DOMA law, without Congressional approval, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

15) Obama illegally violated immigration laws by forbidding the deportation of illegal aliens and ignoring other tenets of existing immigration law, without the approval of Congress, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

16) His administration illegally used the IRS to harass and minimize the impact and activities of conservative and other contrary political action organizations, violating those citizens’ First Amendment rights.

17) Obama illegally created a “shadow government” by establishing a so-call “czar” system in order to bypass the Constitutionally required Congressional approvals of high ranking government positions, violating Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution. 

18) His administration violated existing laws by failing to produce a Federal budget proposal on time in four of the first five years of this administration, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

19) The Obama administration illegally demanded monetary kickbacks (often exuberant kickbacks) from American organizations requesting government documents under the Freedom of Information Act, (FOIA), requests that by law have to be provided for free or for a very small processing cost, violating Article II, Sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

20) His administration demanded that the Ford Motor company stop showing a Ford television commercial that mentioned that its competitors, General Motors and Chrysler, had received Federal bailout money, a violation of the company’s First Amendment rights.

21) The Obama administration coldly ignored the request for military help, help that was readily available, when the U.S. Benghazi consulate and nearby adjacent annex were under siege by terrorists, a siege that endangered the lives of about 24 American citizens and resulted in the unnecessary death of four of those brave citizens violating their pursuit of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

22) His administration illegally used resources of the Federal government to inhibit and harass companies (e.g. Gibson Guitar, Boeing’s planned move of jobs to South Carolina, etc.) whose political agenda did not line up with the President’s political agenda, abusing the power of his office and the executive branch for political gain, violating Section 2, Articles 3 and 4 of the Constitution.

23) The Obama administration intentionally violated the WARN act by telling companies to not announce layoffs that were in compliance with the WARN Act prior to the 2012 Presidential election, promising to pay any WARN Act fines in the future with taxpayer money those companies may incur as a result of violating the WARN Act, as requested by the Obama administration.

24) His administration violated the Welfare Reform Act of 1996 by illegally allowing able bodied welfare recipients not to fulfill the weekly work requirements of that legislation.

Numerous violations of the Constitution, numerous instances of ignoring or changing components of existing Federal law, ignoring judicial rulings, assassinating and detaining Americans without due process. An incredibly lawless, treasonous, and un-Constitutional Presidential administration. 

So why should a Nevada rancher, whose family has been working the same for well over a hundred years, who has tried to pay the necessary fees but just to a different part of the government structure, and who may be being hassled just to benefit foreign investors and domestic politicians, obey any Federal law? Certainly obeying the law does not apply to this President, today’s Washington political class, or this Presidential administration. So why should it apply to a Nevada rancher…or a Florida teacher…or a Wall Street investor…or a California surfer?

The Corurption and Hunger Games Mentality of the Political Class, Part 5: An African-American Writer's Take On The Obama Administration

This is our fifth and final, (for now) review of the rampant corruption and Hunger Games mentality that exist throughout the American political class. Our politicians have become less and less leaders and good examples of citizens and more and more simple crooks and selfish individuals who look after themselves, their friends, and their own self enrichment. And they move in this negative direction in an increasingly corrupt, illegal, and despicable manner and behavior as time goes by.

As a guide for reviewing political class corruption, we have been relying on the multi-level definition of corruption that the Webster online dictionary provides:

a : impairment of integrity, virtue, or moral principle : depravity 

b : decay, decomposition 

c : inducement to wrong by improper or unlawful means (as bribery) 

d : a departure from the original or from what is pure or correct 

Today we look to a writer named Mychal Massie, a respected writer and talk show host in Los Angeles. His essay, included in its entirety below, was brought to my attention in an email sent to me by a friend. I do not know if these are his words or if he even exists. 

However, regardless of his status, the thoughts attributed to him below certainly and elegantly capture the disgust and loathing many Americans feel about the politicians in office today relative to their corruption, greed, and condescending Hunger Games mentality that they feel and exhibit for ordinary Americans.

The following allegedly comes from Mychal Massie, a respected writer and talk show host in Los Angeles.

The other evening on my twitter, a person asked me why I didn't like the Obama's. Specifically I was asked: "I have to ask, why do you hate the Obama's? It seems personal, not policy related. You even dissed (disrespect) their Christmas family picture."

The truth is I do not like the Obamas, what they represent, their ideology, and I certainly do not like his policies and legislation. I've made no secret of my contempt for the Obamas. As I responded to the person who asked me the aforementioned question, I don't like them because they are committed to the fundamental change of my/our country into what can only be regarded as a Communist state.

I don't hate them per definition, but I condemn them because they are the worst kind of racialists, they are elitist Leninists with contempt for traditional America. They display disrespect for the sanctity of the office he holds, and for those who are willing to admit same, Michelle Obama's raw contempt for white America is transpicuous.

I don't like them because they comport themselves as emperor and empress.

I expect, no I demand respect, for the Office of President, and a love of our country and her citizens, from the leader entrusted with the governance of same. President and Mrs. Reagan displayed an unparalleled love for the country and her people. The Reagan's made Americans feel good about themselves and about what we could accomplish.

His arrogance by appointing 32 leftist czars and constantly bypassing congress is impeachable. Eric Holder is probably the MOST incompetent and arrogant DOJ head to ever hold the job. Could you envision President Reagan instructing his Justice Department to act like jack-booted thugs?

Presidents are politicians and all politicians are known and pretty much expected to manipulate the truth, if not outright lie, but even using that low standard, the Obama's have taken lies, dishonesty, deceit, mendacity, subterfuge and obfuscation to new depths. They are verbally abusive to the citizenry, and they display an animus for civility.

I do not like them, because they both display bigotry overtly, as in the case of Harvard Professor Louis Gates, when he accused the Cambridge Police of acting stupidly, and her code speak pursuant to now being able to be proud of America. I view that statement and that Mindset as an insult to those who died to provide a country where a Kenyan, his illegal alien relatives, and his alleged progeny, could come and not only live freely, but rise to the highest, most powerful, position in the world. 

Michelle Obama is free to hate and disparage whites because Americans of every description paid with their blood to ensure her right to do that.

I have a saying, that "the only reason a person hides things, is because they have something to hide." No president in history has spent over a million dollars to keep his records and his past sealed.

And what the two of them have shared has been proven to be lies. 

He lied about when and how they met, he lied about his mother's death and problems with insurance, Michelle lied to a crowd pursuant to nearly $500,000 bank stocks they inherited from his family. He has lied about his father's military service, about the civil rights movement, ad nausea. He lied to the world about the Supreme Court in a State of the Union address.

He berated and publicly insulted a sitting Congressman. He has surrounded himself with the most rabidly, radical, socialist academicians today. He opposed rulings that protected women and children that even Planned Parenthood did not seek to support. He is openly hostile to business and aggressively hostile to Israel.

His wife treats being the First Lady as her personal American Express Black Card (arguably the most prestigious credit card in the world). I condemn them because, as people are suffering, losing their homes, their jobs, their retirements, he and his family are arrogantly showing off their life of entitlement - as he goes about creating and fomenting class warfare.

I don't like them, and I neither apologize nor retreat from my public condemnation of them and of his policies. We should condemn them for the disrespect they show our people, for his willful and unconstitutional actions pursuant to obeying the Constitutional parameters he is bound by, and his willful disregard for Congressional authority.

Dislike for them has nothing to do with the color of their skin; it has everything to do with their behavior, attitudes, and policies. And I have open scorn for their constantly playing the race card.

I could go on, but let me conclude with this. I condemn in the strongest possible terms the media for refusing to investigate them, as they did President Bush and President Clinton, and for refusing to label them for what they truly are. There is no scenario known to man, whereby a white president and his wife could ignore laws, flaunt their position, and lord over the people, as these two are permitted out of fear for their color.

As I wrote in a syndicated column titled, "Nero In The White House" - "Never in my life, inside or outside of politics, have I witnessed such dishonesty in a political leader.

He is the most mendacious political figure I have ever witnessed. Even by the low standards of his presidential predecessors, his narcissistic, contumacious arrogance is unequaled. Using Obama as the bar, Nero would have to be elevated to sainthood.

Many in America wanted to be proud when the first person of color was elected president, but instead, they have been witness to a congenital liar, a woman who has been ashamed of America her entire life, failed policies, intimidation, and a commonality hitherto not witnessed in political leaders. He and his wife view their life at our expense as an entitlement - while America 's people go homeless, hungry and unemployed.

I cannot add anything else, a beautiful essay on the realities of politicians in America today, focused on the Obamas, but a description that could apply to many others in Washington DC and in state capitals and local governments around the country: incompetent, arrogant, liars, dishonesty, deceit, subterfuge, obfuscation, elitists, racialists, disrespect, un-Constitutional, dishonesty, etc. 

But the closing line of the essay captures the essence of this political class and the Obama era perfectly in alignment with the Hunger Games premise: He and his wife view their life at our expense as an entitlement - while America 's people go homeless, hungry and unemployed. And that is the true definition of corruption for a President of the United States.

Liberty's Death By A Thousand Cuts - Ron Paul's Warning, Part 1: The Root Causes

Let’s take a step back from gun control lunacy and Obama Care idiocy and talk about something more basic today and tomorrow: freedom. The following thoughts are from the last speech given in Congress by long time Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

Congressman Paul has been one of the very people in the Washington political class who has sincerely worried about the erosion of liberty and freedom in this country. This loss of freedom was usually at the hands of overreaching, overbearing, and over politicized politicians and their usually ineffective, wasteful, and dangerous policies and legislation.

Many smart people throughout history have correctly observed that freedom is seldom lost by a sudden outburst of tyranny. It is usually lost over time, bit by bit, kind of like death by a thousand cuts. You do not notice how much freedom has eroded away until it is too late to stop the erosion.

Congressman Paul’s points do a great job of pointing out how that slow erosion, how those tiny cuts have dramatically reduced our freedom in this country without most of us noticing. It is a good starting point to determine if this path of slow tyranny is a good path for America or if there is truly a need to change the path back to our heritage of liberty as outlined in the Constitution. Is it a continued road of ignorance or back to the enlightened road of free will, free expression, and freedom from the shackles of politicians and government.

The first part of his speech goes down a checklist of freedom reducing acts from just the past few years:

"[Still] our liberties are restricted and government operates outside the rule of law.. Here are a few examples:

- Debt is growing exponentially.

- The Patriot Act and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act legislation passed without much debate, have resulted in a steady erosion of our Fourth Amendment rights.

- Tragically, our government engages in a pre-emptive wear, otherwise known as aggression, with no complaints from the American people.

- The drone warfare we are pursuing worldwide is destined to end badly for us the hatred builds for innocent lives lost and the international laws flouted.

- It’s now the law of the land that the military can arrest American citizens, hold them indefinitely, without charges or a trial.

- Rampant hostility toward free trade is supported by a large number in Washington.

- Sanctions are used to punish countries that don’t follow our orders.

- Bailouts and guarantees for all kinds of misbehavior are routine.”

To these gross impositions on freedom, the root causes of our liberty loss, we should add a few more causes:

- You are not living in a free country when all forms of government confiscate, on average, over 30% of an American household’s income every year.

- You are not living in a free country when about 500 people in Washington, people you have never met, can force you to purchase a product or service of their choosing, as witnessed by the health insurance mandate demanded in Obama Care.

- You are not living in a free country when the central government controls your elder years medical care (via Medicare).

- You are not living in a free country when the central government controls a large portion of your retirement income (via Social Security).

- You are not living in a free country when the central government controls a large portion of your pre-retirement medical care (via Obama Care).

- You are not living in a free country if your ability to go to college, via student loans, is dependent on the actions and whims of Federal government politicians.

- You are not living in a free country if your ability to get a home mortgage, via Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, is dependent on the actions and whims of Federal government politicians.

- You are not living in a free country if the Federal government’s executive branch can independently and arbitrarily designate any American for assassination and then actually commit that assassination without due process of law (e.g. Anwar al-Awlaki).

- You are not living in a free country when a President can seize control of all forms of communications when he alone decides it is in the national interest (Executive Order - Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions)

- You are not living in a free country when the Federal government can collect and store every electronic communication any citizen makes (e.g. email, text messages) in massive data storage centers (e.g. Bluffdale, Utah) without due process, a warrant, or privacy protection.

- You are not living in a free country when the Federal government executive branch thinks it can affix a GPS tracking device to any citizen’s car without a warrant (see U.S. Vs. Jones decision).

- You are not living in a free country when crony capitalism wastes billions of taxpayer dollars every year without any redeeming societal benefits (e.g. Solyndra, Fisker, Telsa).

- You are not living in a free country if the executive branch can circumvent Constitutionally mandated government appointment reviews via a "czar" politburo.

When taken in total, the above actions by the American political class have shot us a long way down the road to tyranny. In light of these actions, the Congressman’s speech addresses some very serious questions to all Americans:

“Why are sick people [Americans] who use medical marijuana put in prison?

Why are Americans not allowed to use gold and silver as legal tender as mandated by the Constitution?

Why is the Transportation Security Administration permitted to abuse the rights of any American traveling by air?

Why haven’t we given up on the drug war since it’s an obvious failure and violates the people’s rights? Has nobody noticed that the authorities can’t even keep drugs out of our prisons? How can making our entire society a prison solve the problem?

Why do we sacrifice so much getting needlessly involved in border disputes and civil strife around the world and ignore the root cause of the most deadly border in the world - the one between Mexico and the U.S.?

Why does changing the party in power never change policy? Could it be that the views of both parties are essentially the same?

Why is there so little concern for the executive order that gives the President authority to establish a “kill list” including American citizens, of those targeted for assassination?

Why is patriotism thought to be loyalty to the government and the politicians who run it, rather than loyalty to the principles of liberty and support for the people? Real patriotism is a willingness to challenge the government when it’s wrong.”

Thought provoking questions that every American needs to ask themselves if liberty and freedom in this country have any chance of surviving. We are well on our way to a thousand cuts and once we get beyond that magic number, the ability to restore our freedom and liberty will become next to impossible. Those forces that do not care about these Constitutional concepts, the American political class, will be too entrenched to give back the freedom they took away from us.

Congressman Paul’s insights and questions should be our wake up call. These should be the starting points and road map of taking back our country from the those who use our country for their own political gain, personal enrichment, and selfish ego satisfaction.

Today, we laid out the root causes of our problem, the erosion of liberty. Tomorrow, we will review the back half of the Congressman’s speech which lays out the types of behavior that is needed to stop the bleeding before it is too late.
