September, 2018, Part 5, Political Class Insanity: Idiotic Statements, Lies, and Threats From Politicians Across the Country

Let’s get started:

1) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a Democratic candidate for Congress in a NYC Congressional district. She has been a gaffe and idiocy machine of quotes since becoming a candidate. Rather than review all of her stupid quotes and positions, just type in her name in the search box above to get a listing of past blog posts that went over her insanity.

But she is not done, she is becoming the Nancy Pelosi quote machine that makes one wonder: is she really that out of touch with reality:

Ocasio-Cortez recently proclaimed that, “I got elected.” No, not really. You won your party’s primary nomination to be a candidate but the election is not until November in case your staff has not told you. And she may not get elected then either since the incumbent Democrat she upset in the primaries, Joe Crowley, is running as an independent candidate and currently leads her in some opinion polls.
Makes you wonder how someone who wants to be in Congress does not understand how the election process works.
She recently claimed that, “ICE is sexually assaulting women,” a statement that infers that everyone working for ICE is assaulting women, a highly unlikely situation.
But even worse, she could not provide any proof that ANYONE in ICE was sexually assaulting women, inciting hate and misinformation to the worst degree possible.
As any reader of this blog knows, the reality of manmade global warming is a myth, we have provided hundreds of statistics, facts, research, and scientists that prove that manmade global warming is a myth but that did not stop her from claiming that “Americans are dying from global warming.”
As we have shown any number of times that any actual global warming that occurred naturally has resulted in milder storms, fewer wildfires, higher crop yields, etc., factors that have all made humanity’s plight easier to handle.

The gaffe mouth that keeps on giving. Unfortunately, this gaffe generator might actually end up in Congress where her lack of facts, knowledge, and sanity will allow her to vote on legislation that affects all of us.

2) Speaking of lying, let’s move on to the Senate hearings on Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court. If you have been following the hearings you know that a handful of Democratic Senators have been absolute horse’s rear ends in their hysterics and childish posturing. According to the Conservative Daily Post, California Senator Dianne Feinstein was leading that caravan of lies:

During the hearings, Feinstein related in a past job she had experiences sentencing women to jail for getting an abortion in California at a time when abortion was illegal in that state.
According to Feinstein’s words she as an appointee on the governor’s “term setting and paroling authority” for women who had been convicted of felonies.
She said that she sentenced women who had committed abortions with state prison time or approving them for parole.
Apparently she made the same claim during the hearings to approve Jeff Sessions for attorney general: “she said that during the 1960s, she “sentenced women in California” after they were convicted of felony abortion. She even claimed that she sentenced them to a maximum of ten years.”

The problem with all of this posturing is that Feinstein has never been a lawyer or a judge. Thus, she never “sentenced” anyone to prison for having an abortion. She never even attained a law degree. She only sat on a parole board to determine if someone was eligible for parole.

The lies of Feinstein get even worse if Clarke D. Forsythe, the senior legal counsel for Americans United For Life, is to be believed. According to the article, he claims that no one was EVER prosecuted in California for having an abortion prior to it being made legal. So, she never sentenced anyone for having an abortion since no one was ever prosecuted for having an abortion. Unbelievable falsehoods.

3) The immigration enforcement people at ICE are charged with carrying out the immigration laws of the land as legislated by Congress. Apparently, though, that simple process is not well understood by a member of Congress who has set a very dangerous precedent via his latest idiotic and vindictive words:

Unbelievably, Congressman Ruben Gallego recently threatened ICE agents for doing their jobs, as mandated by Congress.
Specifically, he stated that those that actually do their job for ICE, deporting illegal immigrants, should fear for their safety, that they would “not be safe” if somehow Democrats took over the government.
He implied that these brave immigration enforcement agents could not use the excuse that they were doing their jobs if Democrats in Congress decided to come after them, again, for doing their job.
His exact words were: “If you are a US government official and you are deporting Americans be warned. When the worm turns you will not be safe because you were just following orders. You do not have to take part in illegal acts ordered by this President's administration.”

How far down the rabbit hole of insanity have we fallen when a sitting member of Congress threatens a government employee for doing the job that Congress authorized? Trump has not authorized illegal acts, he is executing the laws of the land, deporting illegal immigrants for violating Congressionally mandated laws.

Fox News commentator Geraldo Rivera nailed it when he rebutted rebuked Gallego, calling his behavior “reckless and irresponsible: “Now we’re telling cops that if you enforce the law you’re going to be in trouble sometime down the road when the worm turns? I just think that that is a reckless and irresponsible statement. I back the ICE officers. I detest roundup and removal of average working undocumented immigrants. I think it’s absolutely unnecessary … but you don’t threaten the cops. You don’t threaten the thin blue line. That what separates civilization from anarchy.”

That will do it for today’s insanity: a confused Congressman telling government officials not to enforce existing laws that Congress passed, a California Senator with an over inflated opinion of her accomplishments or who is an outright liar, and the idiocy of Ocasio-Cortez’s statements keep oncoming, More insanity to follow.

September, 2018, Part 4, Political Class Insanity: The Hypocrisy of Democrats and the The Clinton Crime Syndicate and Uranium One Update

Let’s get started:

1) We have previously talked about what happens when local and state governments raise the minimum hourly wage too quickly. Restaurants close because owners cannot pay the new, higher wage levels, employees lose benefits as business owners look to save money in other ways to pay the higher wages, and employees lose jobs, i.e. the good news is that your job is getting higher wages but the bad news is that you no longer have a job. In no instance did employees enjoy higher wages, increased benefits, or more job openings as a result of politicians ramming through increases in the minimum wage.

In our previous political class insanity post we talked about the insanity, untrue, and inane reasoning of Congressional candidate, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Today, we continue to debunk her ideas and nonsense as it relates to a business she used to work for:

Ocasio-Cortez wants to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour as most socialists want to do.
She recently visited an old employer of hers, The Coffee Shop in Union Square New York.
Unfortunately, after a 28 year successful business, the owners of the business decided they had to fold down the business because of high rents and the ever increasing local minimum wage increases, the exact type of policy that Ocasio-Cortez wants to impose on many other small businesses.
She visited The Coffee Shop on the last day of its existence.
Rather than think about the consequences of economic policies she supports, she light heartedly said that, "I swung by today to say hi one last time, and kid around with friends like old times."
I would bet that the now unemployed 150 shop employees did want to “kid around,” given they no longer have careers and income coming into their homes and families.

Obviously, like everything else she does not get, she does not get that overt government interference in the economy always results in bad overall economic consequences.

2) Even though Robert Mueller has been a special counsel investigating Russian ties to the Trump campaign, of which he has found none, the continuing saga of the Clintons and how cozy they were financially to the Russians continues to be virtually ignored. This is sad because it has been well established that there were real and profitable ties between the Russians and the Clintons.

Dick Morris, writing for the Western Journalism website on September 1, 2018, laid out the facts as they are today of the Clinton corruption and the Russians:

Tony Podesta, the brother of Hillary’s top campaign manager, John Podesta, was paid $180,000 by a Russian government owned company, Uranium One, for the purpose of pushing Hillary to approve the sale of 20% of the U.S. uranium mines to the Russians.
The Russians paid Bill Clinton $500,000 to give a single speech in Russia a few weeks before Hillary Clinton had to make a decision on whether to approve the sale of our uranium mines to Russian
Moscow commissioned ten spies to infiltrate Clinton’s political organization to push for the uranium mine sale.
In addition to Tony Podesta getting $180,000 to make the deal happen (did I mention that he is the brother of Hillary’s top campaign manager for her election effort?!), the Russians gave the Clinton Foundation $145 million at about the same time.
We know all of this because of a number of sources including FBI undercover informant Doug Campbell who had infiltrated Uranium One, according to Campbell’s attorney, Victoria Toensing.
And yet, John Huber of the Justice Department, who was assigned by Attorney General Jeff Sessions to investigate the whole matter, has not only not come up with anything, he has yet to interview the FBI source inside Uranium One, Campbell.

So, in Seattle and San Francisco you can go to jail for months if you offer someone a plastic straw that was not specifically requested but you can take bribes from a foreign entity in the form of millions and millions of dollars in return for selling off a strategic asset of the American people. Insanity.

3) Democrats like to claim they are the heroes protecting the poor working class in American today. How well they do that is dubious at best.

As discussed above, Congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez visited her former coffee shop employer to “kid around” on the shop’s last day of existence, driven out of business by high rent but also higher wages that Ocasio-Cortez advocated for, causing 150 people to lose their jobs. Hardly a positive and logical way to look after the working class.

And apparently Democrat hypocrite in chief, Hillary Clinton, is no better. Clinton is putting together some sort of political organization that will exist from September through mid-December and is looking for “interns” to help staff the entity. Job duties and qualifications include the following:

These internships will require a minimum of three days of work per week.
All types of backgrounds and college majors are urged to apply.
Specifically: “Interns will provide support to our staff, assisting our work on a wide range of projects. Work will include but will not be limited to: compiling press clips, monitoring social media, conducting research, drafting correspondence, and assisting with office management.”
Applicants need to have, “a high level of professionalism and discretion,” “strong research and writing skills,” “the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team,” “strong interpersonal communication skills,” “a diligent work ethic and a sense of conscientiousness,” and “enthusiasm, dedication, and a positive attitude.”

Oh, and by the way, the internships are unpaid. Thus, you are expected to work at least three days a week for 3-4 months, have the highest qualifications and character, and expect no monetary reward for your efforts. Can you say hypocrite? An established business is forced to pay higher than affordable wages to its employees and as a result has to go out of business, throwing 150 workers into the unemployment pool. Yet the political types that did this damage can get away with basically paying slave wages, i.e. nothing, for their needs. Unreal.

Hypocrisy and idiocy, sounds about right for this chapter of political class insanity. More to come.

September, 2018, Part 3, Political Class Insanity: More Politician Stupidity and Ignorance

Let’s get started:

1) We have often talked about how ignorant, or stupid if you want to be crude, many of our Washington politicians are. Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson once stated that he was worried that the island of Guam would tip over if too many military resources were stationed there. Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee once asked if the Mars Rover vehicle would be passing past the moon landing site of Neil Armstrong. California Speaker Of the House Nancy Pelosi once said that Congress had to pass the Obama Care legislation so that they could then see what was in it.

And that traditional if inane quotes and views continues with the current Hawaiian Senator:

Senator Mazie Hirono was present at a Senate hearing on immigration and appears to want to get frisky with ICE immigration official Matthew Albence.
She asked Albence. “would you send your child to [the Family Residential Centers]?”
Albence properly answered that the people and families being intercepted at the border were breaking the law, that is why they were apprehended and separated: “Again, I think we’re missing the point. These individuals are there because they have broken a law. There has to be a process.”
This when the Senator started to make a fool of herself: “They have broken a law only as deemed so by the president.”
And this is when Albence lowered the boom on her ignorance: “No, ma’am. They’re there for violation of Title 8 of the immigration of the U.S. and Nationality Act. OK? They’re 8 USC 1325 — that’s illegal entry — is both a criminal and civil violation,, They are in those FRCs pending the outcome of that civil immigration process. They have broken the law.”
He went on to further explain the process and the current law: “There were criminal proceedings when the border patrol prosecuted them, but at the conclusion of that process, once the individual came into ICE custody, they would go through administrative proceedings.”
At that point the Senator stated the obvious: “I’m confused.”

Unbelievable. A current Senator sitting in and asking questions on an important issue is “confused.” Totally unprepared and ignorant of the topic she was examining. And, unfortunately, this person votes on laws. Insanity.

2) We have reviewed the insanity and ignorance of NYC Congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a number of times:

Despite allegedly having an economics degree, her public statements showed that she had not idea how the basic unemployment rate for the country was calculated, something a high school economics class student could probably do.
She went on to say that “everybody” was working 2-3 jobs to stay afloat financially but never checked out government statistics that showed only a tiny percentage of Americans work at multiple jobs and that tiny percentage has been trending downwards over time.
She continued digging her hole deeper when she said that loads of Americans were working 70-80 hours a week to stay afloat but government statistics show that the percentage of Americans working that many hours a week is almost too small to measure.
She then lamented that many millions of Americans were earning less than $20,000 a year but not realizing that those millions of Americans include millions of Americans who work only part time or seasonally since those part time arrangements work for them and their families.

As you can see, she has no concept of reality but that does not stop her from spouting off nonsense after nonsense. And she is becoming the spout that keeps on giving:

Recently, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tried to explain that American “soccer moms” with two vans, were disappearing from society.
And yet the American upper middle class, where many soccer moms reside, is the fastest growing economic class in the country.
Thus, again she spouts a reality that is totally unfounded in the numbers and reality: According to the Census Bureau, there are 10.6 million children under the age of 15 in two parent homes being raised by stay at home “soccer moms”, a 13% increase over the past decade.

Why let facts and reality get the way of your views and babble? Why believe anything this woman says?

September, 2018, Part 2, Political Class INsanity: Corruption In Texas and California and Saving Some Taxpayer Wealth In D.C.

It is another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Let’s get started:

1) We have always been big fans of term limits, one and done. It seems that the longer a politician is in office the better the chance is that he or she abused their campaign funds for personal use. Such was the case of a California Congressman:

Congressman Duncan Hunter and his wife Margaret Hunter were recently indicted for improper use of campaign funds.
They are alleged to having diverted campaign funds for personal use.
They were indicted on charges that they took a quarter million dollars and used it for their kids' tuition, shopping at malls, fancy restaurants in D.C. and surf shops.
They then tried to cover up their alleged theft by forging false documents claiming that they contributed to a charity called “Smiles For LIfe” and that concert tickets were a fundraising cost.
Most despicable, when the charges first surfaced he tried to pin the blame on his wife who was his campaign manager.

Obviously, he is considered innocent until proven guilty but it does not look good, another member of the political class more worried about self enrichment than serving the country and his voters.

2) But the California Congressman is not the only American politician who is corrupting the integrity of the system:

At least Dwaine Caraway, a Texas councilman politician had the decency to plead guilty to his transgressions of accepting over $450,000 in bribes and kickbacks.
In return he used the power of his position to help out at least one businessman.
His transgressions also included conspiracy to commit tax evasion and wire fraud.

Given his admission of guilt we do not have to assume innocent til proven guilty in this case. So sad that local council men up to Washington Congressmen spend more time getting rich vs. doing their jobs and addressing the major issues facing the country and Americans.

3) Trump recently took a small but a positive action to get the Federal government out-of-control spending under control. He decided to freeze the the scheduled pay raises for Federal employees that were going to take effect in January.

Of course, Democrats immediately did their typical knee jerk reaction and objected to the Trump move like they do with everything else. But as we previously discussed, several years ago, the reality is that Federal employees are overwhelmingly paid more in salary, benefits and retirement options than the vast majority of Americans who finance these employees' lavish compensation levels:

The Federal pay system gives the average Federal employee wages 22% above the average private worker’s for doing the same type of work when the data are adjusted for time in position and education.
If you include benefits, the average compensation disparity between a Federal worker and their comparable private sector counterpart rises to between 30% and 40%.
Federal workers receive automatic seniority-based raises irrespective of performance whereas most private sector employees only get a raise for good or outstanding performance, assuming that their company actually has the wherewithal to give raises in tough economic times.
Federal employees receive more enhanced health benefits, for retirement they receive both a defined-benefit and defined-contribution pension plan (whereas very few private sector employees can still receive a defined contribution pension), and Federal employees get full retirement at 56 with full health benefits (while private sector employees retire at a much later age on average).
Federal employees get significantly more paid leave than private-sector workers with a Federal employee with three years on the job receiving all 10 Federal holidays, 20 paid vacation days, and 13 sick leave days per year.
Despite millions of jobs being lost in the private sector during the last recession, resulting in an overall unemployment rate in the country of 8.6% and an underemployment rate of about 16%, the Federal government civilian payroll has expanded by over 230,000 employees over the past few years which is the equivalent of a 12% increase. Ask yourself if you are getting 12% better service from the Federal government over the past few years.
Federal employees voluntarily leave their jobs at one third the rate that private employees leave their positions, indicating that Federal employees realize what a sweet deal they have.
Federal guidelines make it almost impossible to fire a Federal employee regardless of their behavior and how poorly or well they perform their jobs.

As you can see, Federal employees will not starve or go homeless if they do not get a 2% pay raise. Hopefully, this gesture is a first move to more substantial actions to get the Federal government spending under control.

That will do it for today: more sad, political corruption in Texas and California and a first step in reducing the size of government. More insanity to follow.
