October, 2020, Part 1, Political Class Insanity: Hillary Lied, A New York Mayor Gets Indicted, and Common Sense Gets Rarer and Rarer In California

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) We have not had a lot talk about Hillary Clinton lately, thank god, but some new government documents that have come to light show how devious and sleazy she is from a political perspective:
  • Recently declassified government documents indicate that Hillary “approved a campaign plan to stir up a scandal against then-presidential candidate Donald Trump by tying him to [Russian president Vladimir] Putin and the Russians’ hacking of the Democratic National Committee.”
  • In other words, the whole make believe Trump/Russian connection was nothing more than a cheap political ploy to advance Clinton’s Presidential ambitions.
  • Keep in mind that this ended up costing the American taxpayer about $30 million that was wasted on a totally bogus investigation by Robert Mueller.
  • These documents come from Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe.
  • They show that Clinton, running against Trump in the 2016 Presidential election, set up the Russian hacking claims “as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private mail server.”
  • The documents surfaced after a Senate inquiry headed by Senator Lindsey Graham.
  • Specifically, in early September 2016, “U.S. intelligence officials forwarded an investigative referral to [then-] FBI director James Comey and deputy assistant director of counterintelligence Peter Strzok regarding, ‘U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s approval of a plan concerning U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private mail server.’”
So the whole Russian thing was likely just a Clinton campaign dirty deed to throw off attention to her illegal use and misuse of government security protocols regarding emails. And yet, it was the corrupt FBI and Democrats who went about investigating a fake accusation against Trump while allowing Clinton to skate by on her own lawbreaking ways. The corruption of the FBI and the political class is seemingly boundless.

2) As we have said and proved many times, the corruption and criminality of the American political class is not limited to national politicians:
  • A New York town mayor was recently indicted and charged with multiple felonies.
  • Rochester mayor, Lovely Warren, was indicted on charges including defrauding in the first degree and violation of election law.
  • The indictment also included criminal charges against two of her associates, stemming from her election campaign in 2017.
  • The indictment said that Warren “knowingly and willfully” tried to evade campaign contribution limits in “a systemic and ongoing course of conduct with the intent to defraud more than one person."
  • Warren claims she is innocent and is the victim of a “political witch hunt.”
As always, assumed innocent until proven guilty. But the news reports show an extensive investigation by numerous state entities going back to the spring so this was not an indictment that was thrown together at the last minute. If guilty, just another politician trying to game the system for their own benefit, the needs of her constituents be damned.

3) American politicians are not only devious and self serving, e.g. Hillary Clinton and Lovely Warren, they also often lack plain common sense. We have previously discussed the messed up electricity situation in California:
  • The California political class has forced the state electricity utilities to invest more and more money into renewable energy sources, solar and wind power.
  • This has diverted the utilities’ attention and capital expenditures away from improving and fireproofing their equipment around the state.
  • This has resulted in a less than adequate utility grid that has led to faulty switches and wiring which has caused any number of very bad forest fires around the state.
  • The unreliability of solar and wind energy sources has caused rolling and semi-regular blackouts for homes and businesses around the state.
  • The unreliability also results in the state having to buy electricity from other states at very high transfer rates which has resulted in Californians paying, on average, 55% more for electricity than the rest of the country.
What a mess: forcing utilities to invest and get more and more of their energy from unreliable power sources results in high electricity costs, intermittent electricity outages, and more fires. And the state politicians want more and more of the state’s energy to come from renewables, more than the 30% or so it gets today.

So the state’s energy policies today cannot support the needed power needs of the state. Rather than fix what is broken today, the state politicians have doubled down and want to put more risk and insanity on top of a very bad and current energy supply issue:
  • The California state government and its current governor, Gavin Newsome, plan on banning the sale of new gas and hybrid powered vehicles in the state by the year 2035.
  • Thus, starting in 2035, all cars sold in the state will have to be powered by electricity only.
  • This is all in the name of the myth of manmade climate change/global warming.
  • Over this same period, the state will require the use of more and more unreliable solar and wind energy sources.
So, today the state utilities, because of intrusive and stupid political interference in the power industry, cannot keep the lights on for state residents and businesses. Thus, imagine what will happen when massive more amounts of electrical power will be needed, relatively shortly, to power the millions of cars running around the state.

Electricity does not magically appear. It has to be generated constantly to feed the economic demands of cities and states. So, while it is great to think you are helping the environment, a plan like this will likely crash the state’s economy relatively quickly. Today the state cannot keep the lights on for the current electricity demands. It certainly will not be able to constantly charge millions of electric cars with unreliable solar and wind power sources. No common sense.

In a related piece of the governor’s idiocy, a current nuclear power plant in California, Diablo Canyon, currently and safely provides enough electricity to support the electricity needs of three million Californians. Rather than build on that basis of clean energy, the governor wants to shut it down. Again, no common sense, pure insanity.

Even the Federal government, usually not a bastion of common sense, sees the idiocy of this electric car plan. In a letter form the EPA to the governor, the Federal government questioned the legality and doability of such a plan: “Your recent Executive Order (EO) established a goal that 100 percent of new vehicle sales be zero emission by 2035 raises serious questions regarding its legality and practicality. While the EO seems mostly aspirational and on its own would accomplish very little, any attempt by the California Air Resources Board to implement sections of it may require California to request a waiver to U.S. EPA. California’s record of rolling blackouts – unprecedented in size and scope – coupled with recent requests to neighboring states for power begs the question of how you expect to run an electric car fleet that will come with significant increases in electricity demand when you can’t even keep the lights on today.”

When the Federal government bureaucracy correctly sees the stupidity of your plans, those plans must be insanely stupid.

That will do it for today: Hillary lies some more, a New York mayor gets indicted for multiple felonies, and California is still out of touch with reality.
