Every month we devote posts to just general political class insanity that is running rampant through the country. The members of the American political class continue to show that they are incapable of operating any level of government in this country.
Even their best efforts are almost always inefficient and ineffective at resolving any problem facing Americans. They spend a great amount of time not trying to improve the lives of their citizens but continually ensuring their reelection and enriching themselves, their families, and their friends in the process, all at taxpayer expense.
1)Over many years we have far too often discussed the many ways that Washington has wasted our tax dollars on stupid programs. These programs failed to attain their objectives, these programs were full of corruption and criminal elements, these programs were focused on private, local entities. Today’s first post falls into the last category:
Federal taxpayer dollars to the tune of $750,000 were spent on safety at New York City’s Metropolitan Opera.
Federal taxpayers in far away places like Kansas and Idaho had some of their tax dollars spent to install a fire suppression system at the Metropolitan Opera.
A classic example where the wealthier people in this country use the tax dollars of the less wealthy to serve their purposes.
Let’s be clear, the clientele of the NYC Metropolitan Opera is almost certainly wealthy enough to pass the hat among themselves to pay for their own safety.
Another stupid spending priority out of Washington D.C. We are $33,000,000,000,000 in debt and we are spending money on a private opera company. We have homeless Americans sleeping on the streets of our cities and that $750,000 could have provided about 250,000 meals for those homeless folks vs. protecting rich New Yorkers when they go to the opera.
2)New York City and their mayor, Eric Adams, continue to pay dearly for their bragging about being a “sanctuary city.” As we have reported a number of times, the city is being overwhelmed with illegal immigrants who are expecting Adams and New York City taxpayers to pay for their food, their shelter, and their medical treatment.
And the cost of the bragging keeps getting more and more expensive:
Adams’s city administration has extended its agreement with area hotels to house illegal immigrants.
The cost of the extensions: an additional $1.365 billion.
This is four times what the original estimate was since the illegal immigrants keep flooding into the city.
The extension is for three years so Adams’ obviously does not think this crisis is going to end any time soon.
Even Democrats are getting fed up with the crisis and associated cost: Robert Holden, a Democrat Queens councilman, stated, “The migrant crisis has evolved into a financial boondoggle, with quietly extended contracts fattening the pockets of a few at the taxpayers’ expense. It’s time to halt this fiscal recklessness.”
It is insanity, all thanks to Biden’s failed border policies that even has Democrats getting ticked off at the leader of their party.
3)And while Washington policies are screwing up regular Americans’ lives, local politicians continue to also try and make life difficult for Americans:
We have discussed the many failures of city officials in cities like NYC, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Portland.
Their lax criminal policies, high taxes, and disrespecting their police forces has allowed crime to skyrocket, quality of life to decline, high taxes to get higher, and businesses and residents to flee out of their cities.
One of the most amazing rises in crime concerns shoplifting, where lax criminal penalties for shoplifting have resulted in organized retail robbery gangs and security and financial loss for retailers.
As a result, retailers are not stupid and where they cannot make a profit because of shoplifting losses, they close their stores, a trend we have discussed many times.
This has led department store Target to close nine stores in crime riddled cities because of one thing: organized retail theft.
And not surprisingly, almost all of the stores being closed are the ones we listed above: New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland.
Target tried to keep the store open with enhanced security and anti-shoplifting measures but it did not stop the prolific theft.
The really sad aspect of politicians' failure to provide a safe city is that the innocent people that depended on their local stores for their existence are the ones that suffer the most. The thieves will not be penalized, it is the law abiding citizens that see their lives made more complicated and for that, local politicians should be ashamed…and removed from office.
4)While the Federal government spent $750,000 to keep wealthy opera goers in safe in New York City, the latest wasteful spending of Federal taxpayer money was not restricted to NYC:
A recent government report found that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) wasted millions of dollars of COVID relief funds on, wait for it, on questionable funeral expenses.
The report, “Ineffective Controls Over COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Leave the Program Susceptible to Waste and Abuse,” was done by the office of the Inspector General.
$26 million of COVID funds was spent on ineligible funeral expenses such as obituaries, flowers, catering services and gratuities.
According to reporting by RealClearWire, the FEMA COVID program was “rife with fraud and mismanagement.”
Another day and millions of taxpayer dollars wasted again.
5)Biden has not only failed the country with his domestic policies (high inflation, high crime, skyrocketing national debt, etc.), but his foreign policy, especially relative to the war between Ukraine and Russia, has been a colossal failure and and very expensive one at that for the American taxpayer:
We have previously discussed the reality that Biden has sent over $100 billion worth of American taxpayer wealth to the Ukrainian government to fight Russian forces.
Most of this money has been sent without the approval of Congress or the American voters.
At the same time, Biden personally and his high ranking administration leaders have not even tried to bring the war to an end, their diplomacy has not failed, it was not even tried.
And there is a growing concern in this country that his diplomatic failure is leading to a never ending draining of American wealth for a war without end.
Adding to this frustration concerning his diplomatic failure, consider the wasting of that money as it was revealed in a recent “60 Minutes” expose’:
Apparently the countless billions of dollars Biden has sent to Ukraine has not all been spent on the war effort as he promised.
Some of that money was given to Ukrainian farmers to purchase seeds and fertilizer, not American farmers.
Some of that money was given to Ukrainian first responders, not American first responders.
Some of that money was given to small businesses in Ukraine, not American small businesses.
Even Democrats see the idiocy of such wasteful spending as summarized by Congressman Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.: "Modest suggestion: Let’s support farmers, small businesses, and first responders in our own country instead."
Other critics piled on to this stupidity, with Auron MacIntyre, host of BlazeTV, stating, "You don’t live in a country, you live in a tax farm for a global empire."
Michael Seifert echoed this sentiment: "Everything you wish our government would step up and do for us here, they’re doing over in Ukraine, with our tax dollars."
Richard Grenell, former U.S. Ambassador to Germany, questioned the allocation of funds, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic efforts in achieving peace. "Billions for Ukrainian farmers, first responders, and Ukrainian entrepreneurs?! Why? The U.S. should be doing the tough work of peacemaking. We need aggressive diplomats if you want to avoid war. Where is the draft peace plan?"
Congressman Eli Crane of Arizona objected to the use of American taxpayers' money: "Things that Americans' hard-earned tax dollars shouldn’t be funding."
As we have stated way too many times in the past:
Everyday there are usually about 600,000 homeless Americans living on the streets.
Millions of American families are having trouble feeding their families since the overall rate for food inflation over Biden’s past two years is almost 20%.
Well over 100,000 Americans will die of a drug overdose this year because they could not get drug addiction treatment, a death toll that is exploding due to the tons of illegal drugs coming over the southern border as a result of Biden’s failed border security policies, a death rate of about 300 Americans a day.
And yet given the homeless, hungry, and addicted Americans, American politicians and Biden spend billions of tax dollars on faraway and endless wars, opera houses, illegal immigrants, and a myriad of other wasteful idiocy. Pure insanity.
