On a periodic basis we do some posts that fall under the theme of “by the numbers.” Rather than trust what the American political class tells us about reality, we like to examine the real numbers and the real reality in the world to understand what is actually going on. Relying on politicians, and their cohorts in the media, to tell us what is reality is always a sucker bet. They have their own agendas and goals, usually centering around their needs and self-enrichment. So we need to look at the reality of the numbers to determine what is really going on.

We look at the numbers to truly find out how good, not likely, or bad, most likely, the American political class is doing in managing our tax dollars, protecting our freedoms, and resolving major issues that affect all of us.
1)Far too often we have reviewed the depressing and horrific crime statistics in Chicago. For many, many years neither a city, county, or state politician in the state of Illinois has come with any semblance of a plan to protect Chicago citizens from the murder and shooting onslaught that goes on every day. Recent news reports confirm that a solution is still nowhere in sight:
In the most recent weekend, another two city residents were shot and killed.
In total, 44 residents were shot.
In a highly interesting incident, 8 people were shot at a single shooting site … at 8:30 am… on a Sunday.
The Chicago Sun Times reports that 455 people have been killed in Chicago in just the first 9 months of 2023.
This comes out to about 12 homicides on average every week in the city.
Unfortunately, these Chicago numbers never get any better, thanks to the inability of local politicians to come up with a solution.
2)We have discussed the reality and danger of Biden’s failed border policies:
Millions of unvetted, unvaccinated, and possibly terrorist elements have crossed over the border since he became President.
Billions of dollars are being spent to house, feed, and medically treat these millions of illegal immigrants while millions of American citizens go hungry, homeless, and in need of medical attention.
Biden’s open borders have allowed drug cartels to push massive amounts of illegal drugs into the country, a reality that soon will result in skyrocketing overdose deaths of Americans while the cartels get richer and richer.
His immigration policies have certainly endangered the lives of every American, with the latest bad news regarding this illegal immigration onslaught coming out of New York City:
It is estimated that over 100,000 illegal immigrants have made their way to NYC, overwhelming human services operations of the city.
As these illegal immigrants have come into the city, and are getting jammed into cramped shelters, the number of tuberculosis cases has seen a dramatic increase.
The city has already identified 500 cases of the disease.
In the entire year of 2022, the entire COUNTRY had only 8,300 cases of tuberculosis.
In 2021, the national number of cases was 7,800.
Thus, in a very short time frame, NYC has equaled more than 6% of the national number of cases reported in the entire years of 2022 and 2021.
For reference, NYC has only about 2.6% of the national population.
Another set of bad Biden numbers, a rebound of a deadly disease, likely a result of his horrible border policies.
3)Skyrocketing crime. Over 100,000 illegal immigrants setting up shop in the city, draining billions of dollars from the city’s coffers. Deteriorating quality of life. 500 cases of tuberculosis. Yes, New York City is facing some monumental challenges. Thus, you would hope city politicians would be hard at work addressing these dangerous issues.
And of course, with any set of politicians, your hope would be wasted:
City politicians recently passed a very important piece of legislation.
Starting in July, 2024, city restaurants could be fined from $50 to $250 if they include packages of ketchup, packages of soy sauce, or any other plastic items if the customer did not explicitly ask for them.
Forget rising crime rates, forget tuberculosis, forget budget crises, the city’s politicians have finally taken courageous action to minimize the amount of plastic used by city residents as it applies to ketchup packages, soy sauce packages, and plastic silverware. Insanity.
4)Biden’s inflationary economic policies have had a devastating impact on the housing market and the ability of middle class Americans to own their own home:
The average interest rate for a 30 year fixed mortgage is 7.49%, more than three times what it was when Biden took office.
According to real estate tracking firm, ATTOM, current housing prices and mortgage rates put home ownership out of the reach of 99% of Americans according to historical benchmarks.
ATTOM”s analysis of housing data from 572 U.S. counties found that the typical monthly costs for home ownership, mortgage payments, homeowners insurance and property taxes is now $2,053, the first time it has ever been higher than $2,000.
The $2,053 would take up 34.6% of the annual national household income, $71,214, up from 28.4% in the third quarter of 2022, one year ago.
According to ATTOM: “The latest number is considered unaffordable by common lending standards, which call for a 28% debt-to-income ratio. It marks the highest level since 2007 and stands well above the 21% figure from early in 2021, right before home-mortgage rates began shooting up from historic lows.”
Not surprisingly, home for sale listings are down 9% from a year ago and 46% lower than 2020.
Another aspect of life where Biden’s policies have resulted in horrible, horrible numbers.
5)Quite possibly the single most devastating and horrific number of the Biden administration is:
$6 billion
This is the amount of money that Biden allowed to flow to the terrorist state known as Iran. That money, in turn, was likely the financing support for the horrific invasion of Israel by the Hamas terror organization. As of today, hundreds of Israeli citizens have been killed, butchered, and taken captive while at least 9 American citizens have been killed. Of all of Biden’s numbers, this one is the saddest, most despicable, and unfortunately most fatal.
Just to reinforce the obvious: all of today’s’ bad numbers pale with regard to the $6 billion that Biden paid to the foremost terrorist state in the world. Ketchup packages be damned.
