Politicians Say The Darndest Things....And Usually They Are Wrong and Ignorant

In some past posts I have made references to an old television show from the fifties which was called "Art Linkletter's House Party." A favorite segment on every episode of the show was called "Kids Say The Darndest Things." Mr. Linkletter would ask questions of some children, usually aged between three and eight, and some of their responses were hilarious. This segment was spun off later into a show unto itself and was hosted by Bill Cosby.

This recollection reminds me of our present day politicians and how they also say the darndest things. Unfortunately, they are not as cute, cuddly, or funny as the kids that Linkletter and Cosby elicited answers from. In fact, they are down right depressing to think that these people are actually in control of the country and our lives and there is nothing funny about what they sometimes say:

1)Ihan Omar is a U.S. Congresswoman from Minnesota. She is an  immigrant from  Somalia who has experienced the American dream: a poor immigrant who becomes a member of Congress, earning well over $170,000 every year. Given her wonderful American experience, you would expect and hope that she would appreciate her success story and protect the interests of American citizens.

But that hope would not be a good one, given her recent comments:

  • During a recent speech, she claimed that she and others are, “Somalians first, Muslims second.” There was no mention of where Americans were on her list of priorities.

  • In that same speech she proclaimed that her “No. 1 Job” is to look out for Somalia and that one day, Somalia will go after other countries to “unify all Somalia-speaking people.”

So she was elected to represent American citizens in her Minnesota Congressional district but Americnas do not make her top two priorities. Her district probably is facing a number of problems including crime, homelessness, drug addiction, and other scourges negatively affecting her  constituents but her  No.1 job and priority is to unify people from her homeland that live halfway around the world from her Congressional district. Disgusting priorities.

2)Recently, a Twitter user posted a tweet that listed out the states that had the highest gun ownership rates. Turns out these ten states are dominated by Republican and conservative politicians whose policies are probably in line with most Texan politicians.

Rather than respect the opinions and views of those Americans  living in those ten  states, Texas Democrat state representative Gene Wu responded to the tweet with a picture of an American Air Force bomber dropping bombs. His obvious but silent comment is that Americans that have a different view than him need to be bombed into oblivion for simply exercising their Constitutional rights.

This is an elected official in America that would like to see those with a different view to die, a disgustingly violent attitude. How can anyone in this country, never mind an elected official, call for the violent death of other innocent Americans?

3)It is not just politicians that say stupid things, those on politicians' staffs also do a good job saying stupid stuff.  In late September, Biden’s National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, said: “The Middle East region is quieter today than it has been in two decades.”

These words were found to be really ignorant about a week later when Hamas launched a brutal and inhumane attack on Israeli citizens, killing about 1,200 Israeli civilians in a very short amount of time. It is amazing how far off reality a Presidential administration can  be.

And just recently, Biden’s Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, had this quote: “I think it’s very important to note that this is an incredibly volatile time in the Middle East. I would argue that we’ve not seen a situation as dangerous as the one we’re facing now across the region since at least 1973, and arguably even before that.”

So in only three  months or so, the Biden administration went from “The Middle East region is quieter today than it has been in two decades” to “We’ve not seen a situation as dangerous as the one we’re facing now across the region since at least 1973.” This immense miscalculation of reality certainly does not give one a sense that Biden and his staff have a clue of what is really going on.

4)But confusion in the Biden regime is not just around the Middle East:

  • Keep  in mind that overall inflation is up about 17% since Biden became President three short years ago and some costs, e.g. food and gas, are up more than this average jump up  in prices.

  • And yet Biden recently had his economic ignorance shine through with this  statement: “Inflation is coming down, it’s now lower in America than any other major economy in the world. The cost of eggs, milk, chicken, gas, and so many other essential items have  come down.”

  • His ignorance is that while the rate of inflation has come down, inflation itself is still rising every month, just not as quickly as earlier in his term.

  • And yes, the prices of some things may have come down recently, but not as far as down to where they were three years ago and as we just said, prices on many daily products are still going up, just not as quickly.

  • Biden has confused a lowering of the inflation rate with the lowering of prices, a simple economic principle that he still cannot grasp.

  • But a member  of his administration, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, correctly contradicted Biden’s ignorance with this comment: “I think  most Americans know that prices are not  likely to fall.”

Yellen gets simple economics: prices have risen under Biden and are not likely to fall.  This is a direct rebuttal to  Biden’s quote and economic understanding that the prices of “so many essential items have come down.” No, they have not come down, they are just not rising as quickly.

Thus, it is no surprise that Biden’s staff cannot understand reality today, i.e. Sullivan’s view of the Middle East vs. Blinken’s view of the Middle  East, since Biden  himself says ignorant things, in direct opposition to what his Secretary of the Treasury is correctly saying, when it comes to the dire economic situation his policies have created for everyday Americans.

Yes, politicians and their associates do say the darndest things: whether it is caring more about non-Americans than Americans, having no problem threatening Americans with violent death for simply having a different opinion, or completely misreading the reality of the world, be it Middle East violence of economic hardships.

Unfortunately when they say these darndest things it makes us realize that they are clueless when it comes to resolving the problems facing the country today.

The Failing Biden Presidency, Part 1

It is the beginning of another month which means it is time again to review the latest political class insanity from the American political class. Each month it takes us multiple posts to cover the wasteful spending, incompetent government organizations and employees, government programs that usually make a problem worse than resolving it, inane and idiotic politician comments, etc.

To review past posts on this insanity and idiocy, just click on the first few posts in each month listed to the right of this page. After reviewing just a handful of these insanity posts we think you will agree that we are currently being served by the worst set of American politicians ever to hold office in our entire history.

1) Today’s post is going to be mostly focused on the cognitive decline of Joe Biden. Everyone has a slip of the tongue or a slip of the mind occasionally but when it happens so often and it happens in the presence of other symptoms, then eventually one has to reach the conclusion that he is in the throes of a cognitive decline caused by unknown causes at this point in time.

And these slips are not recent, they extend back into the middle of 2020 and the Presidential race. In  fact, we made the case that his wife, his family and his political handlers were guilty of elder abuse to put him through the rigors of a Presidential campaign.

And now, we have a President who I feel sorry for but who has endangered the country, its citizens, and its freedoms with his continuing mental decline:

  • At a recent White House Medal Of Honor ceremony, Biden was honoring  the bravery that came from retired Korean War Army veteran, Ralph Puckett.

  • Present at the ceremony was South Korean President, Moon Jae-in, obviously a high ranking member of an important ally.

  • Biden said that Puckett, his men, and the “people of the Republic of Korea have never forgotten” his bravery, “as evident by the fact that the Prime Minister of Korea is here for this ceremony. I doubt this has happened before. I can’t say that for certain, but I doubt this has happened before.”

  • The problem is that the Prime Minister of Korea was not present, the President of South Korea was present.

  • The Prime MInister was back in Korea, half a world away,

Again, we all screw up once in a while but Biden continues to make statements and spout misinformation all the time. This time he embarrassed an important ally by not knowing who was actually standing next to him.

2)As most know, Biden has created a drug cartel, criminal gang, sex trafficking, and illegal immigration humanitarian disaster at our southern border. Massive amounts of drugs are flowing into the country along with massive numbers of illegal immigrants which is straining the authorities’ ability to feed, house, and prevent the crime that comes with such a disaster.

Millions of people are being  impacted by this crisis. It should be a top priority of Biden and his administration. Unfortunately, consider this hapless and shallow response to a legitimate question from a reporter to Biden about the border crisis:

  • Reporter:  "Did you receive a briefing about the border today?"

  • Biden: “Yes.”

  • Reporter: “What did you learn?”

  • Biden: “A lot.”

At which point, an aide whisked Biden out and away from the reporters. This type of nonsense and shallowness does not give one a good feeling that anyone is in charge.

3)If the illegal immigration disaster is the top problem facing our country, then the fighting between the Israelis and the PLO over in the Middle East is likely the top disaster on a world wide basis. One would think and hope that the President of the United States, the leader of the free world, would take the situation seriously.

But to think and hope that Biden takes this seriously would not be a good bet:

  • Biden was recently in Detroit where they actually put him behind the wheel of Ford’s soon to be released all electric pickup truck.

  • They then paraded him out in front of the press for an obviously shallow photo op.

  • A reporter that cared more about people getting killed than a Biden photo op asked the President, while he was seated behind the steering wheel of the truck,  “A quick question on Israel...since it is so important?”

  • To which Bien replied, “No, you can’t. Not unless you get in front of the car as I step on it.”

So many things wrong with this situation:

  • It was a legitimate question, it deserved a legitimate response.

  • People are dying over there in Gaza and Israel, it was not a time to kid around.

  • And threatening to run down a member of the press is not Presidential at all, not adult/mature at all.

  • “While America’s most important Middle East ally is under attack, Joe Biden threatened to run over a reporter for asking a question about it,” National Republican Senatorial Committee campaign worker Jonathan Turcotte said,

After even the left leaning press expressed tepid concern about such a threat, Biden claimed he was only kidding. Which really frames the problem: people are dying, the press wants answers and he is kidding around. Not very Presidential. By the way, he never answered the question, quickly speeding off in the truck.

As a side note, how violently would the mainstream media have reacted if Trump threatened to run over a member of the press, even if he was kidding? Just another side example of how biased and corrupt journalism has become in this country.

4) The country is about to get hit hard, very hard with economic inflation that will make just about everything more expensive from a cost of living perspective:

  • Gas prices have risen significantly since Biden became President and with Saudi Arabia looking to cut their daily production, gas prices will probably go even higher in the coming months.

  • The cost of lumber and many other essential things for life have also risen because of the Fed’s insanely low interest rates and the Federal government’s insanely out of control deficit spending.

  • Peter Schiff, the chief economist and global strategist of Euro Pacific Capital, told the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF), “People are going to be paying higher insurance, they’re going to be paying higher property taxes, local tax, utility rates are going to go way up. The 100% cause of inflation is the government … It’s when the government spends money that it doesn’t collect in taxes and then the Federal Reserve monetizes the resulting deficits by printing money.”

  • Henry Olsen, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and a columnist at The Washington Post, also told the DCNF, “in the short term, consumers can expect to see rising prices across the board. I expect in the next few months people will be getting sticker shocked in virtually all aspects of their life.”

Gas prices up, lumber prices up, taxes up, utilities prices up, etc. A critical crisis that will affect every American. But when asked about inflation by a reporter at a news conference, “should Americans be worried about inflation, sir?” Biden simply turned and walked away. Did not address this critical issue, ignored the question and simply walked away.

Again, he does not generate any kind of confidence that he has a clue what he is doing, what he should be doing and has the ability to understand and resolve the problems facing the country.

The video of this interaction and his ignoring of the issue  can be seen at:

https://republicandaily.net/2021/05/biden-walks-away-from-question-about-rising-prices-for-americans/

Inflation on the rise, humanitarian crisis on the border, Middle East violently imploding, and Biden not knowing who is standing next to him. Through it all Biden seems to have no clue what is going on and how to fix the problems. Much like his cognitive decline, the state of the country is not looking any brighter either.

March, 2021, Political Class Insanity, Part 2: More Middle East Insanity From Biden, More Wasteful Spending Disguised as Pandemic Relief, and More Sexual Harassment Complaints about Cuomo

1) One of the most puzzling, dangerous, and expensive habits American politicians have is to constantly stick our noses into the mess that is the Middle East. We have lost thousands of soldiers, spent trillions of dollars, and wasted an incredible amount of time and energy in the region with nothing to show for it.

And yet, as the Biden administration takes over, it is more of the same with a strong dose of hypocrisy mixed in:
  • Out of the blue, with no warning, Biden recently authorized US military action and bombing in Syria under the excuse to take out militias that are supposedly supported by Iran.
  • As is always the case, these militias posed absolutely no danger to Americans or our armed forces and yet Biden attacked them, costing the American taxpayer who knows how much in bombs dropped and endangered the lives of our pilots.
  • And yet before he was elected, Biden took the absolute opposite stance when he criticized Trump for taking out a high ranking Iraniain official and possibly the world’s worst terrorist leader, Qasem Soleimani.
  • Biden claimed that Trump's Middle East bombing was “a hugely escalatory move in an already dangerous region” and yet he did basically the same thing in the same region.
  • At least Trump’s bombing took out a terrorist leader, not a bunch of foot soldiers half a world away like Biden did.
  • Vice President Kamala Harris was also critical of Trump’s Middle East bombings when it was discovered that the Syrian regime was still using chemical weapons on its own people but she was silent when Biden bombed the militia in Syria.
  • And to complete the hypocrisy, Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, also criticized Trump’s Syrian bombing attacks, questioning whether those attacks were even legal but she supported Biden’s attacks.
Thus, more useless and dangerous military game playing in the Middle East with a heavy dose of Bidenesque hypocrisy thrown in. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

2) Speaking of “meet the new boss, same as the old boss,” the pandemic relief bill that is trying to get approved and is being driven by Nancy Pelosi continues to get panned for the many unnecessary and wasteful spending programs that the Democrats in Washington are trying to sneak into it that have nothing to do with pandemic relief or helping needy Americans.

We have already discussed the reality that of the $1.9 TRILLION proposed spending in the proposed legislation, over half of that number, about $1 TRILLION, has NOTHING to do with pandemic relief. That $1 TRILLION is just a late Christmas present to Democrats’ campaign donors, themselves, their political allies, and likely their family members. The latest wasteful pending items uncovered include the following:
  • $112 million for San Francisco Bay Area Transit expansion, which has nothing to do with pandemic relief, and just so happens to benefit only Nancy Pelosi’s Congressional district.
  • $135 million for the National Endowment of the Arts, on top of their annual budget allocation, which had nothing to do with pandemic relief.
  • We have already discussed the $1l5 million for the Seaway Bridge for New York state to Canada, a bridge that had nothing to do with pandemic relief, but it gets some money into Chuck Schumer’s state with the pandemic being air cover for an unnecessary expenditure by the Federal government taxpayer.
  • It has been estimated that only 10% of the total $1.9 TRILLION is going to vaccine aid and distribution.
  • You know a wasteful spending package is really bad when even a Demcoratic Congressman has problems with, since according to New York Congressman Adriano Espaillat: "The answer, no, I'm not comfortable [with it]."
  • $10 billion of the $1.9 TRILLION as going overseas for various purposes including but not limited to funding overseas abortions, an action that has nothing to do with pandemic relief.
  • There is an amazing $1 billion included in the $1.9 TRILLION for racial justice for black farmers, which has nothing to do with pandemic relief.
  • There is also $40 million for “native American language preservation” and $50 million for an undefined “environmental justice” fund, both of which have nothing to do with pandemic relief.
Unbelievable on two fronts: first, that the people writing this bill think we are too stupid to realize they are stuffing this bill with their favorite, wasteful projects that they probably could not get approved under any other circumstances.

Second, given the millions of people that have suffered because of the pandemic, the politicians in Washington would rather waste a trillion dollars on idiocy rather than put some of that money to better use and help those in this country who are in need. Just the half a dozen wasteful proposed spending above comes to $11.352 billion. For that $11.352 billion:
  • Based on previous research we have done, that money could have fed every homeless American three good meals a day, every day for just under six and a half years.
  • About 114,000 restaurant owners could have gotten a grant of $100,000 to keep their businesses afloat and keep their employees hired until we got through the pandemic.
  • Since on average it costs about $6,522 a year to help a drug addicted American to get the support they need, that $11.352 billion could have gotten a year’s worth of drug addiction treatment for about 1.7 million Americans.
Thus, when you compare what that $11.352 billion could have been used to help those in need in this country and compare it to what Washington thinks is a better use of taxpayer wealth, you begin to see how out of touch and insensitive Washington politicians are to the rest of the country.

3) We have spoken a lot about how the governor of New York state, Andrew Cuomo, has been a walking disaster for the residents of that state over the past year:
  • First, at the beginning of the pandemic, he forced nursing homes to take in elderly patients who had been exposed to the covid virus and co-mingle those folks with healthy, but vulnerable, nursing home patients which quickly resulted in a rapid and unnecessary increase in nursing deaths because of the virus.
  • Also, early on in the pandemic he stated: “So, when you’re saying, what happened in other countries versus what happened here, we don’t even think it’s going to be as bad as it was in other countries,” which obviously resulted in his taking late and fatal action to contain the virus.
  • In the middle of his bumbling in the handling of the pandemic he wrote a book that praised his handling of his self inflicted disaster using time and resources that probably could have been better used to save lives.
  • There are now accusations from a number of government sources that he intentionally undercounted the number of state nursing home deaths to make himself look better than he performed, an action that may have broken laws and for which he is now under investigation at the state and Federal level.
  • As this has been unfolding, two women have come forward with strong accusations that he inappropriately sexually touched, molested, or spoke to them while in his presence.
Obviously, the governor is innocent until proven guilty but really, he is not having a good year. And it just got a little worse as a third woman has come forward to accuse him of sexually inappropriate behavior. According to The New York Times, a lady named Anna Ruch now claims that Cuomo tried to kiss her at a wedding and put his hand on her bare lower back. Definitely not a good year for the good governor.

That will do it for today: a governor self destructs on every front with fatal and harassment consequences, Washington cares more about themselves and the rest of the world than needy Americans and more of the same failed Middle East foreign policy from Biden with a topping of hypocrisy.

No Mr.President, It Is Actualy Quite Easy To Find Areas Where We are Not Better Off,Thanks To You

We often have asked the question whether politicians are intentionally always lying to us because they think we are too stupid to figure out that they are lying or they really do believe some of the fantasies and lies that constantly come out of their mouths. It is probably a question that will never be answered since I doubt these same politicians will ever admit to lying or being deep in a fantasy world where their sense of reality does not match up with the realities of most Americans.

This question raised itself again when Obama recently made this statement to light of his administration finally coming to an end: “It’s very hard to find an area where we’re not better off than we were before.” Really, does he really believe this or does he think we are too stupid to see the difference in this country across many perspectives between when he took office in early 2009 and today?

Let’s see if we can find a just a few areas where the country and its citizens might not be better off:
  • Obama’s budgets and out of control spending doubled the national debt in eight short years to a whoppoing $20 TRILLION, a reality that theoretically added another $32,000 to the debt burden of every man, woman, and child living in the country today. Verdict - not better off.
  • The Obama economic recovery has failed to attain the long term historical annual economic growth average in even a single year, making his economic recovery the worst in at least the past hundred years and leaving us extremely vulnerable when the next recession hits. Verdict: not better off.
  • There are 13 million more Americans on food stamps/food assistance now than when Obama took office despite being six years removed from the recession and six years into the Obama recovery. Verdict - not better off.
  • The labor participation rate is at a four decades low despite being six years into the Obama economic recovery. Verdict - not better off.
  • For most of the Obama economic recovery, wages and household income growth have been anemic, both on a real basis and compared to previous economic recoveries. Verdict - not better off.
  • African American unemployment rates are still substantially higher than the unemployment rate of any other sector of the work force despite having the first African American President in charge for the past eight years. Verdict - not better off.
  • After a two decade downward trend in violent crime and overall crime rates, we are now seeing the trend start to reverse itself in the latter stages of the Obama Presidency. Verdict - not better off.
  • The political divisions within this country are much worse than they were just eight years ago with Obama offering no leadership to unite the country around common goals and purposes. Verdict - not better off.
  • Heroin addiction and deaths have skyrocketed in the second half of the Obama administration with no proposals or strategies proposed or in place to reverse the trend. Verdict - not better off.
  • Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are much closer to fiscal insolvency than when Obama took office since his administration has proposed no solutions for the coming financial crises of these massive government programs. Verdict - not better off.
  • Despite spending hundreds of billions of Federal tax dollars over the past eight years to educate our kids, the test performance of our kids against the test performance of kids from other countries continues to be abysmal. Verdict - not better off.
  • Despite throwing tens of billions of dollars at crony infested alternative energy companies during this Presidency, we are still looking for some type of economic and societal payback from those same companies, the vast majority of which have gone out of business, taking our tax dollars with them. Verdict - not better off.
  • Despite spending hundreds of billions of dollars trying to resolve the chaos in Afghanistan, the Taliban now control more of the country than at any time since we we went in 15 years ago. Verdict - not better off.
  • Two of our international opponents, Iran and North Korea, are eight years closer to owning nuclear weapons. Verdict - not better off.
  • While Islamic terrorist attacks within our borders have not been as devastating in this country since the 9-11 attacks, the frequency of attacks has picked up dramatically which has resulted in many American deaths and casualties from attacks such as the Fort Hood attacks, the Boston Marathon bombers, the Tennessee military recruiting center attack, the Orlando night club siege and massacre, the San Bernardino workplace attack, the recent Minnesota knife attack, the recent related bombings in Chelsea in New York City and Seaside Heights in New Jersey, and many others, both those that have been successful and those that have been thwarted. Verdict - not better off.
  • Many of our Constitutional and Bill of Rights rights have been under heavy siege by the political class and this administration in the past eight years including freedom of speech (First Amendment), freedom of religion (First Amendment), freedom of the press (First Amendment), freedom from unnecessary and illegal search (Fourth Amendment), privacy, and the right to bear arms (Second Amendment). Verdict - not better off.
  • The Federal government has taken in more taxes than any other government entity in the history of the world and yet Washington politicians still cannot operate a balanced budget. Verdict - not better off.
  • Russia and China, two global competitors both militarily and economically, have so much less respect for the will, strength, and standing of the United States since Obama took office that they are actively pursuing military advances around the world without fear of American reprisal. Verdict - not better off.
  • The Middle East is in far worse shape than eight years ago with United States’ intrusion into the Syrian civil war making conditions there far worse and Obama’s un-Constitutional declaration of war on Libya has resulted in another broken country that has become a haven for ISIS and other terrorist groups. Verdict - not better off.
  • In 2014, as he was removing all U.S., troops from Iraq, Obama claimed that we were leaving behind “an Iraq that is sovereign, stable, and self-reliant” but which today has been broken into three distinct regions, (Shiite, Sunni/ISIS, and Kurds), which is anything but stable with regular terror attacks and ISIS occupying wide swaths of land, and obviously not self reliant as we have had to send in thousands of U.S. troops to save what remained of the central government. Verdict - not better off.
  • After improving slowly but steadily over the past forty years, most Americans, when polled, feel that race relations have deteriorated under the first African American President in our history. Verdict - not better off.
  • Over 20 million Americans now have health insurance vs. prior to the passing of the Obama Care legislation. Verdict - better off if you just measure this top line number. However, if you get underneath this number you find that Obama Care policy premium costs continually go up dramatically, Obama Care deductible costs continually go up dramatically, the vast majority of Obama Care co-ops have already failed with more likely to follow, the majority of those 20 million additionally insured fell into the Medicaid pool that provides low quality, limited access health care and which is riddled with criminal fraud and unsustainable financials, the cost of the entire Obama Care operations has more than doubled from the original estimate with its ten year expected cost is now close $2 TRILLION, health insurance companies are fleeing from the Obama Care policy market since they are losing hundreds of millions of dollars every year from those policies, and the whole Obama Care environment has stifled hiring and economic growth.
With possibly the weak exception of Obama Care, it is actually quite easy to find areas where we are not better off since Obama took office back in January, 2009, despite what ever illusions and fantasies he entertains in his own mind. Quite easy and that is why this administration, which came into being with such high approval ratings, has been such an abysmal failure along just about any dimension imaginable. The end cannot come soon enough.
