Every month we devote posts to just general political class insanity that is running rampant through the country. The members of the American political class continue to show that they are incapable of operating any level of government in this country.
Even their best efforts are almost always inefficient and ineffective at resolving any problem facing Americans. They spend a great amount of time not trying to improve the lives of their citizens but continually ensuring their reelection and enriching themselves, their families, and their friends in the process, all at taxpayer expense.
1)One of Biden’s biggest failures has been his failed border and immigration policies. He has allowed anywhere from 7 to 10 million illegal immigrants to walk into this country who were unvaccinated, unvetted, and likely included drug cartel, criminal cartel, and terroristic elements. This resulted in rising crime rates, the draining of state and city budgets to feed, shelter and medically treat these millions of illegal immigrants, often to the disadvantaging of American citizens, and the flooding of America with illegal drugs.
The most popular of these illegal drugs has been the deadly drug fentanyl. It kills easily and kills in even very small doses. When the latest government national drug overdose annual numbers are compiled you will probably see that the number of Americans annually killed from drug overdoses will have risen significantly in line with Biden’s border policies and the tons of fentanyl that have come with those policies.
Given that a very, very basic function of government is to protect the lives of its citizens, this fentanyl flood clearly represents a failure of the Biden administration as many thousands more Americans will die as a result of the drug flow into this country. And rather than fix the core problem and secure the border, the Biden administration has come up with a half baked plan that will only treat the symptoms of this plague, not the true root cause:
The Biden administration has advised schools across the country to have a supply of the overdose reversal drug, Naloxone, available in all schools.
If administered quickly after an overdose of fentany,l the likelihood of surviving the overdose is much improved.
This recommendation also includes a suggestion that teachers be trained on how to administer the drug to overdosing students.
Specifically: “In the midst of this fentanyl overdose epidemic, it is important to focus on measures to prevent youth drug use and ensure that every school has naloxone and has prepared its students and faculty to use it. Studies show that naloxone access can reduce overdose death rates, that its availability does not lead to increases in youth drug use, and that it causes no harm if used on a person who is not overdosing on opioids. It is important to note that individuals should not be afraid to administer naloxone, as most states have Good Samaritan Laws protecting bystanders who aid at the scene of an overdose. Our schools are on the frontlines of this epidemic, but our teachers and students can be equipped with tools to save lives.”
Fentanyl is now the leading cause of American deaths for those aged 18 to 45.
Overdose deaths for those aged 10-19 has more than doubled between the second half of 2019 and the second half of 2021.
No one is saying that we should not help a kid that accidentally or intentionally overdoses on fentanyl, every step should be taken to prevent the overdose epidemic. But the root cause of the problem is Mexican drug cartels flooding the country with fentanyl and other illegal drugs because of Biden’s porous and ineffective border policies.
Tightening border security would greatly reduce the flood of fentanyl into the country, that is how you fix the problem before it becomes the problem. Stocking Naloxone treats the fatal symptom of the problem, not the root cause. But we should expect nothing better from the American political class, they rarely are smart enough to figure out what the root causes are of any problem which means that their solutions to problems they do not understand are weak, expensive, and very often ineffective.
2)So-called sanctuary cities have finally got what they bragged about for years: thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants flooding into their cities seeking “sanctuary.” This has put incredible strains on local city budgets that now have to feed, shelter, and medically treat thousands upon thousands of non-tax paying people which results in tax paying citizens seeing their quality of life decline as their tax dollars are diverted to illegal immigrants’ needs
Along with this draining of city budgets and floods of illegal immigrants coming into these sanctuary cities comes increased crime rates and violence. One aspect of the increase of crime as a result of illegal immigrants is prostitution, as witnessed by what is going on in New York City:
According to reporting by the Daily Mail, a whole new red light district has formed in Queens, New York that is filled with Venezuelan illegal immigrant women using prostitution to make money.
Specifically: “Roosevelt Avenue in the Corona neighborhood of Queens is filled with Venezuelan migrants offering sex services in the open-air, so-called ‘Market of Sweethearts.”
The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, has confirmed that the prostitution problem is real after having visited the area.
There are also reports that some of the newly arrived prostitutes have solicited kids as they leave area school.
Just another bad downside of Biden’s failed border policies. Crime, violence, drug addiction and now, prostitution.
3)The financial impact of Biden’s border policies in one U.S. city:
According to Mayor Eric Adams of New York City, there are 127,000 illegal immigrants who have been processed by the city as of a week or so ago.
This is the number that have been processed since last spring, probably more are in the city who arrived prior to this year.
There are about 4,000 additional illegal immigrants showing up in the city every week.
In August Adams said there was no more room in the city for more illegal immigrants while at the same time he was cutting the city’s budget by 15% and diverting those budget cuts to the feeding, sheltering, and medical care of those 127,000 illegal immigrants.
The city estimates that the cost for this insanity will be $12 billion over the next three years.
This is $12 billion that cannot be spent on city residents’ for better schools, better roads, better police and fire resources, better parks, etc.
Adams has been kind of hypocritical through this crisis since he has bragged about being a sanctuary city but has also claimed that the financial impact of caring for illegal immigrants “will destroy New York City.” And yet, he continues to insist NYC is a sanctuary city.
4)Other sanctuary, states, and local politicians are having their own challenges handling their self proclaimed sanctuary city braggadocio:
Chicago politicians have recently approved $51 million of city taxpayer money to provide free housing for illegal immigrants that have landed in their city.
Massachusetts governor Maura Healey has admitted that the state’s shelters are at capacity but she has also put forth programs that cost taxpayer money to provide job training to improve their “work readiness.”
It is unknown whether these programs will also be open to state citizens to get their “work readiness” improved.
Just a few more examples where stubborn politicians across the country take better care of illegal immigrants than they do for their own citizens in need. While these sanctuary politicians rush to shelter, feed, and medically treat illegal immigrants it never seems they are rushing to help Americans in need.
