February, 2015, Part 4, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: Fracking Is Cklean, An Ice Age May Be Dawning, and More

On a periodic basis we take a look at the topic of global warming under the theme of “ I am a global warming doubter and a believer in science.” We started this series because we wanted to look at ALL of the available science, ALL of the available data and ALL of the scientific opinions on the topic to reach a science and reality based conclusion on what was likely really going on.

Which is not what people like Al Gore do. Gore and other zealots call those that dare to disagree with him any number of slurs including racists, terrorists, homophobes, etc. Rather than engage in a science-based, adult conversation, his types would rather browbeat global warming doubters into submission by selectively looking at only a small amount of science and facts that support only their premise.

Now, the fact that global warming stopped almost twenty years ago, forecasts and predictions of global warming alarmists have never come true or been close to accurate accurate, and the Gore-types have had to rebrand “global warming” to “climate change” are all strong indications that these folks have been wrong all along.

Additionally, we have shown many, many times in dozens of posts that there may actually be more science that rebuts global warming and climate change than support it. To review these past posts and our proof that one can be a believer in science and a global warming doubter, enter the phrase,”I am a global warming doubter” or “a believer in science” in the search box above.

Then take a look at the latest information and realities below that continue to show that man made global warming and climate change may not be real at all.

1) Earlier this week we discussed the horrible and laughable agreement on climate change that Obama had agreed to with the Chinese. As a review, recall that the U.S. agreed to cut its carbon footprint by at least 26% relative to its 2005 amount by 2025. China would cap its carbon dioxide emissions at the amount it released in 2030. China also said by 2030 it would get 20% of its energy from non-fossil fuel sources.

Does not sound like a good deal since we have to start cutting our emissions immediately while China can delay cutting its output for 15 years before getting serious about its carbon footprint. That will put the U.S. economy at a distinct disadvantage while China and its economy continues on its current path for years and year to come.

But the deal might be even worse than this. Consider a recent report from the Daily Caller relative to the lack of transparency and accountability of the Chinese in this regard:
  • Chinese delegates to the United Nations global warming summit in Peru have rejected a U.S.-led attempt to scrutinize the country’s plans to limit carbon dioxide emissions, despite having promised President Barack Obama to cut emissions in the coming decades.
  • Bloomberg reports that Chinese delegates sought to “delete provisions in a draft text that would have paved the way for other countries and non-governmental organisations to submit questions about its carbon-reduction plans.”
  • Top U.S. climate envoy Todd Stern said that national plans to fight global warming should be subject to scrutiny from other countries, adding that “the sunshine is intended to prod countries to be as ambitious as possible” in cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
Is anyone outside of the Obama administration surprised that China’s agreement is now not trackable from a compliance perspective? The U.S. economy and citizens will be suffering with power shortages and higher utilities and gas expenses for the next 15 years while China can practically do anything it wants and not be held accountable since no tracking data and information will be made available to check compliance. Insanity.

2) A recent NewsMax article quoted a USAToday article which described last winter as "one of the snowiest, coldest, most miserable on record." Given that the vast majority of the Great Lakes have frozen over and the northern part of the U.S. is suffering through continuously low temperatures, this winter is not much different.

The article also contains an interview with climatologist John L. Casey who believes the current cold weather pattern will be with us  for decades to come. Highlights from the interview include the following observations and predictions of Casey who is president of the Space and Science Research Corp., an Orlando, Florida, climate research firm:

  • He thinks the recent cold weather is occurring because of lessening solar activity.
  • As a result, the solar trends are similar to the same patterns seen during the late 1700s and early 1800s when the sun went into a “solar minimum,” a period of a significantly reduced amount of solar flares and sunspots.
  • He predicts a 30 year period of cold weather, reducing crop yields leading to food shortages and riots and chaos.
  • In his view, it is the sun, not mankind, that controls and influences climate.
  • He thinks that the cold spell actually starting taking hold in 2007: "The data is pretty solid. If you look at the 100-year global temperature chart, you look at the steep drop-off we've had since 2007. It's the steepest drop in global temperatures in the last hundred years."
  • The article also cites the findings of famous Russian astrophysicist Habibullo I. Abdussamatov who also believes that a new mini-ice age has begun. Abdussamatov is also an advocate of the position that global climate is controlled by solar activity.
  • Casey predicts that the worse cooling will occur in the late 2020s and early 2030s.
  • And more interesting in Casey's view of the world, as the air and ocean temps cool, it will change the Earth’s crust, possibly leading to more volcanoes and earthquakes. He notes that the worst earthquake ever to hit the U.S. at New Madrid,Missouri was in 1812, in the middle of the last solar minimum.
Look, I have not idea whether or not Casey and Abdussamatov are legitimate climate scientists. For all I know, they could work for a major oil company. But the theory of solar activity controlling the Earth’s climate has been researched and, to a great extent shown to be true, by work done at the CERN Institute. And I know that the CERN folks are legitimate scientists. We previously covered their work and findings on the linkage between climate and solar activity at the following link:

3) One of the frequent targets of Al Gore types, who are so carbon adverse, is to bad mouth the process of fracking, a high tech process that coaxes oil and natural gas out of the earth. Given that global warming advocates see any use of oil and natural gas as something that needs to be banned, any chance to bad mouth the chemical involved in the fracking process has to be taken advantage of.

But as with most global warming believer positions, what they advocate and promote is likely also false. The University of Colorado at Boulder conducted a research study on fracking and the fracking fluids and chemicals that are involved. The main finding from their research is that fracking fluids are no more dangerous than what is beneath the kitchen sink and on the shelf above a home’s washer or dryer.

This scientific study involved fracking wells in Colorado, Louisiana, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Texas. The research found many of the chemicals involved are also found in everyday household products found in a typical home including toothpaste, laxatives, detergent and even ice cream.

From another source I have found that 99.5% of fracking fluids are plain old water. If the remaining .5% are chemicals that are also found in your ice cream and toothpaste then we have another case of global warming believers abusing reality, science, and truth.

4) One last discussion for this month. Geneieve Wood, recently writing for the Heritage Foundation website, discussed the question of why climate change is not a top priority for many world leaders.

The basis of her article was that there was a recent U.N.Climate Change Summit in New York City. Despite the fact the Obama administration thinks global warming/climate change is more dangerous to humanity than poverty, ISIS, Iranian nuclear ambitions, and dozens of other more imminent crises:

  • Australia Prime Minister Tony Abbot went to New York City the day after the U.N. climate meeting, feeling that the meeting was not worth coming a day earlier, claiming that domestic affairs had a higher priority.
  • German Chancellor Angela Merkel could not make the U.N. meeting because of “scheduling reasons.”
  • Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper could not make the meeting but stopped by for the post meeting dinner.
  • Japan and Russia sent no representatives to the meeting.
  • India and China, the world’s leading producer of greenhouse gases, sent low level government representatives to the meeting.

Since the goal of the summit is “to galvanize and catalyze climate action,” as U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon put it, one would have thought that the world’s leading greenhouse gas producers and major industrial powers to show up.

Looks like the rest of the world does not hold the same beliefs and priorities of Obama and Gore.

That will do it for this month’s update where we again show that it is perfectly logical, scientifically based, and reality to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science. Today we learned that:
  • China is unlikely to conform to the climate and energy deal that Obama agreed to.
  • It is really cold outside across the country.
  • More than one climate scientist that thinks their scientific research points more to an impending ice age, not global warming.
  • Fracking fluids and processes are most likely harmless, according to a university research effort.
  • Most of the world is far less enthused about Obama’s love of a faltering global warming/climate change hysteria.
More science and realities that prove being a global warming doubter is a rational stance and position. I am sure we will return to this theme many times in the future as science unfolds and Al Gore continues to go off for those that dare to challenge his views and positions.
