July, 2015, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer In Science: Ice Age Predictionsand More Scientists Who Doubt Global Warming

Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in manmade global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have dove into the whole issue of manmade global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:
  • Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
  • Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
  • Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control on our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.
To see the past posts and the multitude of evidence that we have compiled that showed it is perfectly okay to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, enter the phrase "global warming doubter” in the search box above or go through the monthly historical post listed on the right side of this page.

Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaims.

1) One thing that Al Gore types like to do is to scare us global warming doubters and believers in science types with catastrophic predictions of what will happen if we do not follow their advice NOW. Everything has to be done now from more carbon taxes to less freedom to more dictatorial powers for the political class.

But are these people ever right? Often we have looked back on their dire predictions and every time they have been wrong, really wrong. Such is the case when ABC News reported back in 2008, seven years ago, that New York City would be under water because of global warming by 2015. That’s right, by now, NYC should be the new Venice of North America.

Details of their terribly wrong predictive news report include the following hilarious predictions:
  • On Good Morning America on June 12, 2015, Bob Woodruff not only predicted that NYC would be under water by 2015 but by this year gas would cost over $9 a gallon and a carton of milk would cost over $13. In other words, if you are going to predict disaster, go big and bold....and wrong.
  • The ABC News report included predicted prophetic videos, such as a teenager declaring, "It's June 8th, 2015. One carton of milk is $12.99." At the store today, barely a month after June 8, 2015, I purchased a gallon of milk for $3.59, about one third the price predicted.
  • Another clip featured this prediction for the current year: "Gas reached over $9 a gallon." Today, barely a month after June 8, 2015, I paid $2.64 for a gallon of gas, about one third the predicted costs.
  • One expert on that Good Morning America show in 2008 warns that in 2015 the sea level will rise quickly, a prediction that is accompanied by a video shows New York City being engulfed by water.
  • The video montage includes another unidentified person predicting that "flames cover hundreds of miles."
Missed it by that much. NYC is still afloat, gas and milk costs a fraction of what was predicted, and Al Gore types expect us to panic whenever they predict disaster even though EVERY disaster they have predicted for the past twenty years relative to global warming has not happened.

2) One thing that global warming/climate change advocates hate is to include in the discussion anyone, any scientist, any economist, or any politician that does not align with their views. Because if they did, then much, if not all, of their global warming/climate change theories would collapse from the weight of science, realities, and statistics. Seems that even the Pope is following this approach of denying the possibility that intelligent people have a different view than Al Gore.

According to a June 21, 2015 article by Greg Richter, writing for the NewsMax website:
  • French climate change skeptic Philippe de Larminat says he was denied a spot at April's summit sponsored by the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences, according to the Washington Post.
  • De Larminat wanted to attend the meeting ahead Pope Francis' recent encyclical on climate change.
  • He was told he would be allowed if space permitted, but just days before the event was set to begin he was told there wasn't an open spot.
  • But the Post reported that de Larminat was actually denied space because other scientists and the Vatican executive who heads up the academy didn't want him there, likely because De Larminat has written a book proving that the sun, and not human activity, is the primary driver of climate change.
  • "They did not want to hear an off note," de Larminat correctly  told the paper.
That is why the advocates for global warming have not a leg to stand on when it comes to science and scientific methods. They ignore reality in order to get their grants and their way, abusing science for their own personal benefit rather than the good of humanity.

3) Let’s take this theme another step further. Melanie Batley, also writing for NewsMax, had an article on July 7, 2015 that discussed the Nobel Laureate that says that Obama is “dead wrong” when it comes to his pro global warming stance: "I would say that basically global warming is a non-problem," Dr. Ivar Giaever announced during a speech at the 65th Nobel Laureate Conference in Lindau, Germany, last week.

Additional quotes from this distinguished scientist included:
  • Quoting Obama's warning that "no challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change," Giaever said it was a "ridiculous statement:"I say this to Obama: Excuse me, Mr. President, but you're wrong. Dead wrong,"
  • "Obama said last year that 2014 is [the] hottest year ever. But it's not true. It's not the hottest."
  • Giaever, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics in 1973, questioned the theory behind fears about rising carbon dioxide levels and said that the theory is not supported by scientific evidence: "Global warming really has become a new religion. Because you cannot discuss it. It's not proper. It is like the Catholic Church."
Giaever was one of more than 100 co-signers in a letter to the President in March 2009 that was critical of his stance on global warming, saying, "We the undersigned scientists, maintain that the case for alarm regarding climate change is grossly overstated."

So I guess that the “science is settled” argument of Al Gore, Barack Obama and others is just another lie in a long string of lies from this administration and the political class. Because, really, who would you believe on a scientific matter, politicians and lawyers like Gore and Obama or a Nobel Prize winner? If you answer is Gore et al, then please leave, we have nothing to talk about when it comes to science.

4) One last doubt for global warming believers for this month. A group of scientists in England have claimed they have come up with a predictive model that forecasts the earth will enter a mini-ice age by 2020 which could last for up to ten years. Details of their findings include the following:
  • Their scientific research claims to be able to correctly predict solar cycles, a factor that many scientists, including those at the CERN Institute in Europe, claim affects the earth’s weather and climate for more than humanity.
  • Their modeling predicts that between 2020 and 2030 solar cycles will cancel each other out, leading to a phenomenon known as the 'Maunder minimum.'
  • When this happens the sun goes very calm from a solar flare and other solar activity perspective.
  • The Maunder minimum was last observed a few hundred years ago when it coincided with the mini ice age that hit between 1646 and 1715.
  • This Ice age resulted in even London's River Thames freezing over.
  • According to news reports,t his new predictive model of the Sun's solar cycle is producing very accurate predictions of irregularities within the Sun's 11-year heartbeat.
  • The model suggests that solar activity will fall by 60% during the 2030s to conditions last seen during the 'mini ice age' that began in 1645, according to the results presented by Professor Valentina Zharkova at the National Astronomy Meeting in Llandudno.
Are these scientists any better at predicting climate than ABC News was back in 2008? I have no idea. But they deserve a seat at the table when discussing the potential for man made climate impacts rather than being called racists, homophobes, flat earth believers and other slurs for having science that does not line up with Al Gore’s views.

That will do it for this month where we again prove that being a global warming doubter and a believer in science is a perfectly sane, rational, and science-based view. It would be good to have an adult conversation about the whole area but that is doubtful, given the hysteria of global warming advocates in the past.
