December,2018, Part 1, I Am A Global Warming Doubter and A Believer in Science: More tripe From Ocasio-Cortez, More Sense From A Real Climate Scientist, and More

Every month we have enough material to return to a continuing theme in this blog, namely that “I am a global warming doubter AND a believer in science.” This became of interest because of people like Al Gore who fanatically and verbosely claimed that you had to be an idiot to not believe in manmade global warming. It has been my life belief that anyone that is that loud and that obnoxious is hiding something, that rather than argue facts and reality it is better to beat down and insult anyone who disagrees.

As we have dove into the whole issue of man made global warming, or its new rebranded title of climate change, we found that Al Gore and people like him were guilty of a number of things:
  • Ignoring science and realities that did not support their opinions and positions.
  • Rather than have an adult conversation about climate, these types of advocates like Gore sank to the level of insulting those who dared look at ALL science by calling them a variety of names including racists, homophobes, terrorists, flat earth believers, and other slanderous names.
  • Continuing to insist that politicians step up their intrusions into our lives with higher taxes, more regulations, and more control on our freedoms and standards of living based on a shaky theory at best.
To see the past posts and the multitude of evidence that we have compiled that showed it is perfectly okay to be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, enter the phrase "global warming doubter” in the search box above or go through the monthly historical post listed on the right side of this page.

Thus, let’s see the latest facts and science that prove you can be a global warming doubter and a believer in science, regardless of what Al Gore proclaim.

1) Terry Applegate, writing for the Affluent Investor website on December 13, 2018, had an interesting article and take on so-call “green energy” from windmills, namely, “Windmills Kill Birds and Warm The Earth:”
  • He starts off by stating something that we have said often, that when politicians and governments try to resolve a problem or issue they almost always make the problem or issue worse.
  • She asserts that up to 2016, politicians and government have handed over $176 billion of taxpayer money (about $550 per citizen) to wind energy companies to hopefully create cleaner, less carbon based energy usage.
  • According to a recent research report published in Joule, wind turbines raise the “boundary layer mixing and altered large-scale atmospheric flow” resulting in atmospheric warming.
  • Imagine that, a green energy source that actually contributes to global warming.
  • This finding was based on readings taken at 28 operating wind farms across the country.
  • This research is consistent with a previous research effort that was published in the journal, “Nature Climate Change,” which, “found a night-time warming effect over wind farms of up to 0.72 degrees Celsius per decade over the nine-year-period in which data were collected.”
  • Given that the United Nations global warming alarmists think that a two degree Celcius in the earth’s temperature is devastating, going up .72 degrees is not a trivial number vs. the UN warmings.
Combine these research results with the reality that windmills kill hundreds of thousands of birds each year, with many of the killed birds being on the endangered list, wind turbines take up large tracts of land, they can only provide intermittent energy, i.e. only when the wind is blowing, they create annoying window flicker for people living nearby, and enrich large corporations with high level political contacts and wind energy loses a lot of its aura of good.

Oh, to add insult to injury, solar power costs a lot more than other forms of more conventional energy generation despite the $176 billion in subsidies.

So a government and politician policy that was supposed to provide green, wind energy actually makes the global warming situation worse. Consider this simple math calculation: if it costs say $30,000 to make a home in this country fully solar, than almost 6 million U.S. homes would now be solar powered if that $176 billion had been sent back to those who paid for it, the taxpayers. An untold number of birds will still be alive, the earth would be less warm around wind farms, there would be no window flicker, and Americans would have directly benefited from their tax dollars rather than large, often politically connected, corporations.

2) As readers of this blog knows, we have had a ball over the past couple of months marveling at the insanity, idiocy, and ignorance of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a newly elected Congresswoman from NYC. She has an economics degree but does not know how to calculate the unemployment rate. She has been elected to Congress but does not know the three branches of our government. She is a college graduate but cannot understand basic math when it comes to the Pentagon. The list goes on and on.
  • And the list now includes insanity when it comes to global warming:
  • Ocasio-Cortez was recently speaking at Senator Bernie Sanders “Solving Our Climate Crisis” town hall meeting.
  • Despite having no background in science or climate, she proclaimed that transitioning the country to renewable energy sources would create racial, social, and economic justice in the country.
  • Seriously? Fighting global warming, which basically stopped two decades ago, can eliminate racism in this country?
  • Who knew that getting rid of racism, something that has been present in the world forever could be eliminated by solar and wind energy, she is soooooo smart!
I literally find it impossible to comprehend how this logic works. And apparently she does not know either since I could find no logic or reasoning from her to support this preposterous analogy. As always, she just throws these statements out there and expects us to take it for granted that she is right. Which is difficult to do given the inane comments she has already made.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, let me throw this logic at you. We have previously written on how some global warming advocates have claimed that beavers cause global warming by building their dams. So, using your weird form of logic, why don’t we just kill all of the beavers in the world since, if they cause global warming, killing them will alleviate the global warming problem and that will cause racism to go away. My logic is just as valid as yours and just as stupid.

3) Judith Curry has been one of the climate scientists over the years that never drank the Al Gore manmade global warming Kool-Aid, preferring to look at real science, real statistics, and real reality. A recent article on the Patriot News Daily reflected some more of her rational, and sane, insights on the likely myth of manmade global warming:
  • In an interview on the Daily Caller website, she lamented the abuse of science and alarmism that pervades the Al Gore global warming hysteria.
  • Specifically: “Projections of extreme, alarming impacts are very weakly justified to borderline impossible. Some of the worst-case scenarios strain credulity. With regards to 21st century climate projections,we are dealing with deep uncertainty, and we should not be basing our policies based on the assumption that the climate will actually evolve as per predicted.”
  • Which is so true since every major global warming alarmists’ projection and forecast has failed miserably in accurately predicting the impact of global warming.
  • She also took a shot at simplistic reasoning and simplistic proposed solutions, something that people like Al Gore advocate: “Climate variability and change is a lot more complex than ‘CO2 as control knob’. No one wants to hear this, or actually spend time understanding things.”
  • She also lambasted the hysteria surrounding the concept of global warming wiping out cities along the coasts, that these coastal predictions were based on a “cascade of extremely unlikely-to-impossible events using overly simplistic models of poorly understood processes.” and that “There is not yet any convincing evidence of a human fingerprint on global sea level rise, because of the large changes driven by natural variability. An increase in the rate of global sea level rise since 1995 is being caused by ice loss from Greenland.”
So who are you going to believe: the rational reasoning of a trained climate scientist or a former bartender, novice Congresswoman who thinks that renewable energy sources can wipe out racism? This is what we have come to. More to follow.
