October, 2017, Part 1, The Unfolding Disaster That Is Obama Care: McCain Lies, Premiums Rise, and Nothing Ever Gets Fixed

Every month for years now we have had to discuss how bad Obama Care is turning out to be under the continuing theme, “the unfolding disaster that is Obama Care.” This month is no different. As the legislation continues to march through America, driving up health care and health insurance prices as it serves as dead weight on economic growth, it cements its rightful place as the worst piece of legislation Washington has ever produced.

It never had a chance to be successful since it really never addressed the underlying root causes of our ever increasing health costs in the country:
  • Americans eat too much of the wrong kind of food, resulting in obscenely high obesity rates for the country.
  • Our food chain is infested with overdoses of high fructose corn syrup, salt, sugar, and other unhealthy additives.
  • Americans smoke too much.
  • Americans do not exercise enough.
  • The country is in serious need of health care tort reform.
  • Barriers to insurance company competition across state lines need to come down.
  • Obama Care never “followed the money” to find out who is actually profiting from the ever escalating healthcare costs in this country and how to get those factors under control.
  • Obama Care never got the immense amount of fraud and abuse in current government healthcare programs, Medicare and Medicaid, under control in order to save money to efficiently fund other government health care initiatives.
  • Obama Care never put serious research money towards curing the major diseases that drive high healthcare costs such as high frequency cancers and dementia type diseases.
You cannot resolve any problem unless you understand and address the underlying root causes. No difference here: Obama Care legislation never addressed these listed root causes and thus, has no chance of ever being successful.

But it is not just missing the root causes of our healthcare costs that makes Obama Care so horrible. It resulted in millions of Americans losing access to their favored doctors, hospitals, and insurance policies. It has caused insurance premiums, deductibles and copays to escalate substantially. It will likely add trillions of dollars to the national debt. It has exposed millions of Americans to higher than necessary identity theft chances. It has created government bureaucracies that are wastefully spending taxpayer wealth and being exploited by criminal elements. It has stifled economic growth and job creation.

These are just a sample of the types of idiocy that we have been reviewing for the past several years in this blog relative to Obama Care. To read those past posts, just enter the phrase, “the unfolding disaster,” in the search box above.

1) Many times we have written and discussed how the monthly premiums for Obama Care policies continued to skyrocket over the years despite Obama’s claim that some American families would see upwards of a $2,500 REDUCTION in their annual premiums as a result of the legislation. Double digit percent increases have been the norm every year, not the exception.

The bad news continued in the area of ever rising Obama Care health insurance premium increases in a September 17, 2017 article by Aaron Bandler on the Daily Wire website:
  • Citing the Washington Free Beacon as his source, Mr. Bandler reports that the Congressional Budget Office estimates that the average increase in Obama Care premiums will be 15% in 2018, about seven times higher than the current rate of inflation.
  • As a result of this large increase, the CBO expects 2 million people to drop their Obama Care coverage and go uninsured in 2018.
  • Specifically, the Beacon reported: "The budget office projects that average premiums will total $3,400 for a 21-year-old, $4,800 for a 45-year-old, and $9,800 for a 64-year-old this year."
  • While some of the current Obama Care customers will feel the total impact of the increases because of taxpayer subsidies, millions who do not get subsidies will see large increases.
  • Plus, those increase premiums have to be paid by someone and in many cases that will be the American taxpayer via Obama Care subsidies.
  • According to another Free Beacon report, in 2018 there will be 63 counties throughout the country with NO Obama Care insurers available to them.
  • Even though there will be no insurers to get coverage from in those counties, the residents of those counties will still have to pay penalties to the Federal government for not having insurance.
  • Almost as bad, 1,472 counties, 45% of all U.S. counties, will have only one carrier to get an Obama Care policy from.
So much for Obama’s promise that the legislation would spur competition across the country and give Americans a wider choice of insurance companies.

And Washington does nothing to fix what is becoming worse and worse every day. The Democrats who wrought this disaster refuse to help fix it and Republicans who promised to fix it cannot get out of their own way. The ineptness and idiocy of these politicians is mind boggling when such a pressing issue confronts the country and they are incapable of doing anything to fix it.

2) The previous information came from a mid-September article. A more recent article on the NewsMax website by Andrew Harrer on October 4, 2017 shows that the aforementioned 15% increase in 2018 might have been premature and too conservative:
  • The article cites a New York Times report that stated some Obama Care insurance policies may see their premiums increase by over 50% in 2018.
  • It stated that some insurance regulators at the state level are raising rates very aggressively in order to avoid insurance companies abandoning their state’s Obama Care exchanges altogether.
  • According to Georgia insurance commissioner Ralph Hudgens, some rates could go up 57.% in 2018: "Obamacare has become even more unaffordable for Georgia's middle class. I am disappointed by reports that the latest Obamacare repeal has stalled once again and urge Congress to take action to end this failed health insurance experiment."
  • The average Obama Care premium increase will be 45% in Florida and 30% in New Mexico.
  • The Times story cites experts that estimate the rates will go up from 10% to almost 60% next year.
Again, not quite the promised $2,500 annual decrease that Obama promised time and time again. And again, while many Obama Care policy holders will not see much if any increase because of Federal subsidies, the American taxpayer will be paying for those increase as will millions of Obama Care policy holders who do not get any subsidies at all.

3) One of the reasons that Republicans could not get any positive changes made to the Obama Care disaster is because Senate Republican John McCain stopped the one effort that his party members in the Senate almost got passed. Which is strange since at least 13 times McCain publicly came out strongly on not fixing Obama Care but repealing it and replacing it.

But yet when the time comes to actually do what he said he wanted to do, McCain sinks the whole effort. Talk about a blatant hypocrite that is contributing to the ongoing disaster that is Obama Care.

One example of his hypocrisy was the following statement he made: “It is clear that any serious attempt to improve our health care system must begin with a full repeal and replacement of Obamacare, and I will continue fighting on behalf of the people of Arizona to achieve it”

His 13 public declarations wanting to repeal Obama Care can be seen at:

That will do it for today’s review of the unfolding disaster that is Obama Care: McCain lies, premiums rise, and the Washington political class is useless in fixing a major problem facing the country and millions and millions of Americans. More disasters to follow.

January, 2017, Part 1, Political CLass Insanity: Our (Over) Regulated Nation, DEA Making Sick Americans, and More

It is the beginning of another month which means it is again time to review the latest political class insanity from Washington and around the world. Political class insanity takes many forms including the wasting of taxpayer wealth, criminal fraud within government programs, inane and stupid political quotes and actions, the inability to create and implement effective and efficient government programs, stupid and ill performing economic policies and strategies, and other forms of insanity that continue to evolve and surprise and shock us.

Today and for all of the insanity posts this month, let’s start off with a welcome piece of honest political dialog. It comes from a State Department spokesperson. Mark Toner, who is about to start the daily State Department press briefing. In a joking matter, he makes the following quote: "Welcome to the State Department. I think we have some interns in the back. Welcome. Good to see you in this exercise in transparency and democracy."

He then burst out laughing at his own quote, indicating he also knew what a joke the Obama administration has been, especially Mr. Toner’s State Department, when it comes to cover ups, lack of transparency, denial of Freedom of Information Act requests, the prosecution of whistleblowers, etc. But at least it was a little refreshing to finally hear some actual honesty out of Washington as we see from the actual clip of the news conference:

http://www.againstcronycapitalism.org/2016/08/when-even-the-state-department-spokesperson-cant-keep-a-straight-face-about-things-anymore-video/

With that context of honesty, let’s see what other insanity has been going down:

1) Neil W. McCabe, writing for Breitbart on December 20, 2016, talked about the launching of a new US Navy warship, the USS Gabrielle Giffords, which happens to be ninth type ship within the so-called Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class of warships. But according to Mr. McCabe, calling it a combat ship or a warship might be giving it more credit than it deserves. We are likely looking at another costly and useless expenditure of taxpayer wealth much like the $13 billion aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford that some experts think should be scrapped despite the $13 billion price tag and the F-35 fighter jet that has likely already cost over a trillion dollars in development:

  • While current Coast Guard cutters have deck guns with a maximum range of 20 miles, the brand new and expensive LCS ships have deck guns that have a range of only 10 miles.
  • This limited gun power range makes them susceptible to attack before they are even in range of the enemy.
  • In Congressional testimony, J. Michael Gilmore, the Pentagon’s director of Operational Test and Evaluation, said that because of the ship’s speed and small size, “it could avoid combat and find a place to hide from the hostilities,” a trait that maybe you do not want in a “warship.
  • Furthermore he stated in testimony: “The Navy’s own requirements show that the only — the only thing the Navy expects, if it’s hit by one of those kinds of threats, is for it to be able to exit the battle area and or provide for an orderly abandon ship. A hit on one of these ships is going to be a real problem–if you can keep it out of harm’s way? OK.”
  • Keep it out of harm’s way,” again, not a trait you want in a warship.
  • Senator John McCain summed up this Pentagon disaster nicely, referring to this class of Navy ships as an “alleged warship”: “For some reason, Navy leaders prioritized deploying a ship with no capability over completing necessary mission package testing. In other words, the taxpayers have paid for—and are still paying for—26 ships that have demonstrated next-to-no combat capability. This is unacceptable.”
  • And as often the case with Pentagon spending, the cost of these almost useless ships is not close to being what was originally proposed since back in 2007 when each ship was supposed to cost $220 a piece but now each ship costs more than double that original estimate, coming in at about $480 million each, according to a recent General Accounting Office report.
  • The GAO was also not complimentary of the whole class of ships: “Much of the LCS’s capabilities are yet to be demonstrated and the frigate’s design, cost, and capabilities are not well-defined.”
Typical Pentagon and government procurement: rosy promises, over budget, under performing.

2) Unfortunately, we continue to report on the insanity in Chicago as it relates to gang and gun violence in the city with some of the most stringent gun laws in the country. Despite these strict gun laws, the violence continues to grow with local, state, and Federal politicians having no solution in their little minds to put forth to stop the violence:

  • Over the recent Christmas weekend, 30 people were wounded and 11 were killed by gun violence in Chicago.
  • The Chicago Sun Times reported that it was the deadliest Christmas weekend in a long time.
  • For the same holiday weekend in 2015, only 6 were killed.
  • Over 700 people were killed in Chicago in 2016.
So much for peace on earth and goodwill to men, certainly not the spirit in Chicago, the city with possibly the strongest gun control laws and yet the most gun violence in the country with no politicians having an answer to the ever increasing violence.

3) We have often been critical of the so-called “war on drugs.” It has been going on since the Nixon administration, has probably cost over a trillion dollars, it has given us the highest prison population in the world by any measure, has created violent and wealthy drug cartels, and still has not prevented tens of thousands of Americans from dying from drug abuse every year.

According to a recent article on the Against Crony Capitalism website, the stupidity of the “war” continues today. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) recently classified a “therapeutic, non-psychoactive” substance, CBD oil, as a Schedule 1 drug, the highest and most dangerous drug classification that exists. Apparently, CBD has been used for a while to help Americans deal with epilepsy and other debilitating illnesses. It helps keep epilepsy sufferers and their seizures under control.

So while the Mexican drug cartels are flooding the country with cheap heroin creating a heroin addiction crisis, with opioids killing thousands of Americans every year, some bureaucrat in the DEA decided to focus on a substance that relieves the suffering of Americans. Insanely bad priorities.

4) Let’s move from a DEA bureaucrat that has too much time on his or her hands that they need to come up with stupid regulations and move to the larger Obama administration, which obviously has way too much time on their hands. Consider an article by Paul Bedard in the Washington Examiner on December 30, 2016:

  • The Obama administration has issued 3,853 Federal government regulations in 2016.
  • This means that for every day of 2015, the Obama administration issued more than ten regulations a day on average, seven days a week.
  • This also comes out to 18 regulations for every law Congress passed this past year.
  • The Federal government regulation book, the Federal Register, is now over 97,000 pages long.
  • This was the highest number of regulations passed in a year during the Obama Presidency.
As always, there are at least three really stupid aspects of this over regulation:

  1. How is that the preceding 43 Presidents did not see the need for the thousands and thousands of regulations the Obama administration has put in place during its tenure, were those former Presidents that stupid while Obama is oh so smart?
  2. I have always maintained that as government and the bureaucracy that accompanies it gets larger and grosser, those within the bureaucracy need to continually justify their existence and one way to do that is to constantly come up with new, useless, and stupid regulations.
  3. I also maintain that the reasons the economy and Obama’s economic recovery have been so lousy is that businesses and business owners across the country have spent so much time, money, and resources trying to comply with these new, useless, and stupid regulations that they have had much less time to devote to growing their businesses which in turn would grow the economy.
Another problem with creating so many burdensome regulations is that the American people get virtually no say in the creation or to determine if these regulations are actually needed. The number of regulations is so much higher than the number of laws passed by Congress, the place where the American voters’ voices should be heard and taken into account. That voter accountability is absent when government regulators run wild.

This is lack of democracy is illustrated by an index developed by the Unconstitutional Index that is developed annually by Clyde Wayne Crews of the Competitive Enterprise Institute. It does a ratio analysis of the number of regulations put in place each year to the number of laws passed each year. The higher the number the more it means that unaccountable regulations are having more of an impact than elected representatives.

Consider an example from Mr. Crews chart that is listed below. In 2003, Federal government agencies put 4,148 regulations in place, Congress passed 198 laws which means that about there were about 21 regulations put in place for each law passed. Thus, the Index value of 21. During the Bush later years, that index never got above 25, usually never getting higher than 20.

However, if you look at the Obama years, we see the index get and stay quite high most years. In fact, the index averages almost 30 over the past eight years, 50% higher than the Bush years.

Just another example of government out of control. We are a nation of regulations now, most of which are likely unneeded except that they help an unneeded bureaucracy from becoming extinct. Unlike politicians, we never know the who, how, and why of these regulations but just know that they decrease our freedom while bogging down the economy. And the Obama administration did more bogging down than probably any Presidency in our history.

A good start to another month of bad political class insanity. Regulations out of control, the DEA making Americans suffer, unchecked violence continues in Chicago, and taxpayers pay for warships that cannot fight a war. More tomorrow.

The Political Climate of Hate and Hostility that Obama, Not Trump, Created in America

At end of December, 2015, we did four posts in which I discussed the very bad memories I will have from the first seven years of Obama’s Presidency. They ranged from failed programs to out of control spending to outright lawbreaking. The first of those four posts can be seen at:

But two months later I realized that those four posts came up short. I needed another two posts to cover all of the bad memories and failings of what I consider the worst Presidency of my lifetime. The first of those two posts can be seen at:

But recent events lead me to do another post on this theme, the bad memories of a bad Presidency. Last week Donald Trump had to cancel a campaign rally in Chicago because people opposed to his Presidential run threatened violence and disturbances. Trump heeded the advice of law enforcement and cancelled the rally.

This led Obama to criticize Trump and his rhetoric and accuse Trumpo of causing the unrest, which of course is totally false. The unrest was caused by professional civil disturbers and unpatriotic Americans who wanted to disrupt and prevent the expression of First Amendment rights of people who had a different opinion than theirs.

But I found it so ironic and ignorant of this President accusing someone else of having hateful rhetoric. This President, numerous times, as you will see below, has been either a major instigator of violent rhetoric or stood by and gave his tacit and implicit approval of violent political rhetoric directed at ordinary Americans who had a difference of opinion relative to his policies. Him accusing Trump of violent rhetoric is so hypocritical as to be pathetic.

So let’s see what this “non-violent” President has said or implicitly approved of in the past when it comes to violent oratory:

1) Politico reported during Obama’s 2008 Presidential campaign against McCain that Obama said the following during a campaign event in Philadelphia: “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun. Because from what I understand, folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.” So, don’t like someone else’s position on an issue? Make sure that you get into a brawl with that person and make sure you are more heavily armed. A little violent Mr. President? Guns, knives, brawls?

The fact that Black Panthers patrolled outside of polling stations in Philadelphia during Presidential voting in 2008 may have been a result of Obama’s inciting a brawl to his supporters in Philly.

2) In another campaign stop in 2008, Obama incited his followers with following obnoxious and aggressive rhetoric: “I need you to go out and talk to your friends, talk to your neighbors...I want you to argue with them, get in their faces...you guys are the ones who can make the change." “Get in their faces,” sounds a lot aggressive and violent to me.

3) Remember when Obama told his supporters that “we need to punish our enemies”: "If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, 'We're gonna punish our enemies, and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us' -- if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election -- then I think it's going to be harder. And that's why I think it's so important that people focus on voting on November 2nd….“Those aren’t the kinds of folks who represent our core American values.”

Let me interpret:
  • Political enemies need to be destroyed.
  • We will reign supreme and take care of those that helped vanquish our enemies.
  • Those that disagree with us do not matter, they do not represent American values, they are superfluous and need to be wiped out.
That is basically what he was saying, wipe them out, they are not like us, punish them for simply having a difference of opinion.

4) For those of you who do not understand what and who created the conditions for the Great Recession, I refer you to a comprehensive history of how the Democrats created the conditions for the Great Recession:

And whatever you think of Bush, understand that his administration saw the impending recession coming long before it hit, but Democrats in Congress constantly blocked many Bush attempts to fix the housing bubble that eventually imploded the entire economy:

Combine these discussion with the reality that Democrats controlled both houses of Congress leading up to the Great Recession, trying to put the entire responsibility for the Great Recession on Republicans is pretty weak and illogical. Which is exactly what Obama teried to do when he basically told Republicans to get the f out of the way as he swoops in to fix what he and the Democrats had a big hand in breaking: “But I don't want the folks [Republicans] who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them just to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking.” In other words, shut up and get out of my way. Somewhat violent, aggressive, and condescending, don’t you think?

5) But it was not just Republicans who felt the wrath of Obama’s violent rhetoric and the consequences when his supporters followed up with violence and aggression of their own. Consider some instances of Obama supporter violence examples from an American Thinker website article back in the 2008 Presidential campaign that was directed both at Republicans and Democrats:
  • Dr. Lynette Long, a one time Hillary Clinton supporter, compiled video testimonials of how Obama supporters had abused and aggressively acted against Clinton supporters.
  • Her video contained dozens of instances where mostly middle women were accosted and yelled at obscenely by Obama supporters in state caucuses back in 2008.
  • Female Clinton supporters claim that there were called c***s, and other sexual names, that they were spit on by Obama supporters, physically threatened with violence amidst an overall environment of open hostility.
  • The article also discusses the incident when women supporting McCain were accosted on the street during a peaceful demonstration in support of McCain where Obama supporters came by, calling the women c***s, white whores, and stupid bitches.
  • Besides the verbal abuse, the article claims and witnesses to the harassment claim that the young Obama supporters also shoved them physically.
  • Nowhere in the article or anywhere online coudl I find where Obama or any of his handlers came out and demanded this thuggery stop and that the behavior of his supporters be much less aggressive and violent and abusive.
That will do it for today but as you can see, Obama helped create the environment that he now lectures Trump on. Calling women c***s, whores, telling Americans to get out of the way, telling Americans you they need to be punished, telling Americans that they are the enemy, telling his supporters to bring guns and knives to a brawl, telling his supporters to get in others faces. That is the hateful environment that Obama created, lecturing others is so hypocritical and such an absence of leadership.

Unfortunately we will need to do another post tomorrow since we are not yet done on the hateful rhetoric and hateful quotes that this President has encouraged, spoken, and allowed.

Note: to see the video clips where the President actually puts forth this violent rhetoric in his own words go to:

September, 2015, Political Class Insanity, Part 4: VA Gutting Whistleblowers, Cartels Taking Over Phoenix Area, and Americans Fed Up With the Status Qupo

It is the start of another month which means it is time for our monthly review of the latest political class insanity that continually spews forth from America’s politicians. Their actions, words, quotes, incompetency, and general ineptness continue to reinforce our theory that we are currently being served by the worst set of politicians in the history of the nation.

As you read about the latest shenanigans and ineptness of the political class, keep in mind what should be their priorities in these difficult times and compare this list to what they are actually working on:

  • NBC recently reported that ISIS forces are getting larger and stronger despite the Obama administration spending billions of dollars on a failed air campaign and military strategy.
  • The stock market is in free fall.
  • Job creation is barely keeping up with population growth.
  • Wage growth is anemic, growing just .2% in the second quarter, the lowest quarterly growth since 1982.
  • The labor participation rate is at the lowest level in decades because the Obama economy cannot generate enough jobs.
  • Thousands of veterans are still not getting the medical care they were promised by the Federal government.
  • 45 million Americans are still receiving monthly Federal food assistance.
  • Our borders still leak and thousands of illegal immigrant criminals continue to walk our streets
  • A record number of police officers have been assassinated in the past week.
  • Major programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are hurtling towards insolvency and lose hundreds of billions of dollars every year to fraud and mismanagement.
  • Our kids are still getting lousy public educations at most public schools.
  • The IRS and other government functions seem to be getting their computer systems hacked on a regular basis, exposing tens of millions of Americans to identity theft potential.
  • Obama Care is a failure along so many dimensions as health care costs continue to soar despite the Obama promise that they would decrease.
  • Annual Federal deficits, while down, are still about half a TRILLION a year meaning that even though the Federal government is collecting more in taxes than ever before, it still cannot run a balanced budget.
Again, keep these real crises in mind as you read what our politicians are actually doing.

1) Apparently all of the crises and problems we listed above are not figments of our imagination. According to a recent opinion poll by Quinnipiac University, that was reviewed in the September 11, 2015 issue of The Week magazine, 71% of American voters are dissatisfied with the ways things are going in the country today. Even worse, 41% are “very dissatisfied” with the way things are going in the country.

Thus, we should not be surprised that people like Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorini, and other non-politicians are doing well in the early Presidential running. People are tired with the current members of the American political class who have done nothing as far as making live better and more secure for most Americans.

Which makes visiting the term limits website,

www.howmuchworsecoulditget.com

all the more important since really, how much worse could it get if we replaced every Washington politician with a new person today? At least 71% of Americans would probably support such a move.

2) We have previously reported on how inept the Veterans Administration (VA) is. A recent study showed that almost 300,000 military veterans died while waiting for treatment. At the same time, high ranking VA executives were getting large bonuses for being such screw-ups.

Turns out these these executives are also pretty vindictive. According to an article that was in the August, 2015 issue of Reason magazine:

  • VA employees that complained and blew the whistle on VA incompetence have been the target of retaliation by VA executives.
  • In some cases, the medical records of alleged whistleblowers were accessed and information on those records were used to try to discredit the whistleblowers.
  • One of those whistleblowers, Brandon Coleman, was placed on administrative leave after he publicly complained that veterans were receiving dangerously poor medical treatment.
  • He presented evidence to both Senator John McCain and the head of the VA that his medical records had been accessed illegally prior to being forced onto leave.

So much for a transparent Presidential administration, as promised by Obama. Do the right thing and point out government incompetence and then get your private medical records thrown in your face in retaliation and to protect those that are not doing their jobs.

3) Brandon Coleman was only placed on leave for doing the right thing in his VA job. VA whistleblower and Army veteran Vanessa Lech claims she lost her job when her superior retaliated against her when she called attention to safety issues and sexual harassment at a New Mexico VA facility.

Within a month of being hired in October, 2014 she filed a grievance through her union for being retaliated against by her harassing supervisor. She also publicly pointed out the many safety issues at the facility where she worked including lack of security and VA autos that were dangerously maintained. While an investigation of her complaints substantiated many of her allegations, she still lost her job as a result of speaking up.
According to Ms. Lech: “A culture of fear, retaliation and toxic leadership plagues Veterans Affairs, an organization, which is supposed to consistently provide high quality services for our military Veterans. VA management is more focused on bonus money, bad press and doubling down on the status quo instead of being concerned about the well being of Veterans and VA employees.”

Besides the sad stories of brave people like Mr. Coleman and Ms. Lech is that the Obama administration has been aware of the incompetence and scandal of the VA over the years. But it has still been unsuccessful in providing the promised medical care to veterans and protecting those whistleblowers that would actually help Obama clean up the mess and disgrace that is the VA. Pathetic.

4) Let’s stay in the southwest U.S. for the next piece of insanity but move over to the state of Arizona. According to Pinal County, Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu, Mexican drug cartels who are armed with AK-47 automatic weapons “control many areas on American soil” in areas that are only 30 miles from the Phoenix metro area.

The Sheriff stated on TV: “This is literally an unsecured border. We have cartels that think they own the place. They control many areas on American soil and this how they freely move billions of dollars of drugs and hundreds of thousands of illegals into our country.”

“They control many areas on American soil.” This is scary stuff if true. This is just one other reason why the Obama administration has been just a total failure relative to immigration policy and reality, we have an unsecured border that is now controlled by foreign interests. And these foreign interests are violent, organized crime types that apparently are operating without danger of being arrested or stopped.

That will do it for today’s insanity, all very depressing. We have drug cartels taking over U.S. territory, we have a VA that has not changed its ways of ineptness despite being aware of the problems for years, we have an Obama administration that is not protecting whistleblowers despite its vow to have all time high transparency, and we have proof that American citizens are fed up with those that are in political office today. Insanity across the board.

More insanity tomorrow.

Political Class Insanity Special Edition, Part 4: Syrian Madness, Quotes and Misquotes

This is our fourth discussion regarding the probably idiotic and insane notion from President Obama and other sin his administration that intervening in the Syrian civil war would be a good idea for America. The previous three discussions/posts laid out the many, many reasons why such a military effort is a very bad idea. Those reasons include, but are not confined to the following:

  • We are not absolutely sure that the Syrian government actually used the poison gas, there are very good reasons and news sources  to believe that the rebel forces used the gas, either intentionally or unintentionally.
  • A limited and narrow military attack, as proposed by the administration, will not remove Assad from the head of the Syrian government and will not deter him or other tyrants from considering the use of poison gas in the future.
  • Over 100,000 Syrians have already been killed as a result of the civil war, the time to act was years ago prior to 100,000 people being needlessly killed. To act now when a relative handful have been killed is way too late to have any positive impact on the ground in Syria.
  • Russia has already pledged to replace any military hardware destroyed by a U.S. attack and is considering giving the Syrians an advanced missile defense system. So again, how is a limited U.S. military strike going to do anything to impede the ability of the Syrian government to wage war on its citizens?

The vast majority of Americans across the political spectrum and across the country do not want to go to war against Syria, no matter how limited that war is promised to be. Most sensible Americans realize that historical U.S. military activity in the Middle East has NEVER ended well so what makes Obama and others think this will be any different.

Other reasons were put forth for not acting militarily starting at the following post:

http://loathemygovernment.blogspot.com/2013/09/political-class-insanity-special.html

Today let’s focus on what people are saying about this disaster waiting to happen, both those in Washington and others outside of Washington who seem to have a better grasp of reality, integrity, and truth telling than those within the Federal government.

1) This fiasco started when President Obama issued a dare/ultimatum to the government of Syria in August, 2012, the now infamous “red line” proclamation: “We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus. That would change my equation.”

But just this week the President retreated from this ultimatum, actually claiming that the red line concept was not his, even though he stated it clearly last August: “First of all, I didn’t set a red line. The world set a red line. The world set a red line when governments representing 98% of the world’s population said the use of chemical weapons are [sic] abhorrent and passed a treaty forbidding their use, even when countries are engaged in war.”

Of course you set the red line, Mr. President, you stated it clearly and publicly last year. But we probably should not expect anything different from this President, this individual who would blame anyone else for his shortcomings and the shortcomings of his administration. It was Bush’s fault. It was Congress’ fault. It was the fault of the Japanese tsunami. It was the fault of ATM machines. All of these excuses have been tried by him in the past. This is just another example of him trying to shed blame, impinging his integrity in the process.

So if you are lying about something we are sure you are lying about, how can we trust you and your justifications for going to war when you have lied so many times in the past?

2) Senator John McCain, a big proponent of launching the missiles into Syria, had the following to say relative to the Congressional discussions going on about whether to authorize the President to militarily act: “Now that a resolution is going to be before the Congress of the United States, we want to work to make that resolution something that majorities of the members of both houses could support. A rejection of that, a vote against the resolution by Congress, I think would be catastrophic, because it would undermine the credibility of the United States of America and of the President of the United States. None of us want that.”

Senator, the credibility of the United States is pretty much shot already, given the fact that Obama throw out a dare and then never backed it up with an operational plan.

He did not go to the United Nations to get the world behind his bluff and bluster.

He is trying to get Congress to support him in the eleventh hour, he should have been working the halls of Congress the same day he issued the red line threat a year ago.

Given the opposition by Americans to military action as measured by opinion polls, he certainly did not make his case to the American people.

He did not put diplomatic or economic pressure on Russia, a main Syrian ally, to get the use of chemical weapons made more emphatic to Assad.

He did not make his case to our allies, most of whom understand that military action of the type proposed and the timing are not the right thing to do.

Obama has already done a complete job of killing our credibility as a world leader already, Mr. McCain. Nothing Congress does will make that situation any better. Or have you been too busy playing online poker to notice?

3) No post on quotes would be complete without some factually wrong words out of Nancy Pelosi. Consider her response to a reporters question a few days ago:

Question: If Congress does reject this, can the president proceed if Congress rejects?

Pelosi: I don’t think Congress will reject. But I do want to remind you because the – I’ve been reading some of what some of you have written and say the president has never gone forward if Congress has not approved, when it has taken up the issue. I remind you that in 1999, President Clinton brought us all together, similar to this meeting here, but over a period of time to talk about going into the Balkans and the vote was 213-213, 187 Republicans voted ‘no,’ 180 Democrats voted ‘yes,’ about 30 on each side, something like that, went in a different way than the majority of their party. And that was when the planes were really ready to go into Bosnia [sic]. He went. And you know what happened there. So, I don’t – I don’t think that the congressional authorization is necessary. I do think it’s a good thing. And I hope that we can achieve it.

Pelosi is correct about the House vote, but it occurred five weeks after the military air campaign had already started. Missed the truth on that statement by five weeks, which is pretty good when it comes to the accuracy of her assertions in the past. I bring this up in that it is another case of how and why would we should not trust these people. The President blatantly denies saying something that the we know he said and Pelosi supports her position by just plain saying incorrect things.

4) John Kerry had an interesting time in front of Congress recently when he tried to explain that sending cruise missiles and other military ordinance into Syria is not “war” per se: “We don’t want to go to war in Syria either. It is not what we are here to ask. The President it is not asking you to go to war. He is not asking you to declare war. He is not asking you to send one American troop to war… He is simply saying we need to take an action that can degrade the capacity of a man who has been willing to kill his own people by breaking a nearly 100-year-old prohibition, and will we stand up and be counted to say we won’t do that.”

Sorry, I do not buy it. You cannot declare that blowing up people and things in Syria is not war. If the Syrian government launched a handful of cruise missiles into the United States, you can bet we would call it war. Abraham Lincoln once said:

Question: If you call a tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have?

Answer: Four, just because you call a tail a leg does not make it a leg.

This is not an “action” that the President is proposing, cruise missiles are not used in an action, they are only used in war. Again, the credibility of these people to deny reality or lie about reality knows no bounds.

5) By far, the most elegant, most insightful, and most accurate description and advice for the Syrian situation has come from someone outside of political office. Whether liberals and Democrats want to admit it, Sarah Palin had the best advice for not militarily intervening in the Syrian civil war. Her advice: “Let Allah sort it out.”

These people, Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, and other religious sects have been attacking and killing each other for centuries. Ms. Palin correctly points out that a few cruise missiles fired from a few U.S. warships is not going to change anything within this centuries old quagmire.

6) Finally, let’s close with the views and opinions of Charlie Daniels, long time musician and current Internet blogger. He quite accurately and simply points out why the United States should stay out of the Syrian situation, and does it much more eloquently than the way Obama, Kerry, and others illogically try to justify a military strike.

Best of all, he correctly points out that a slip of a tongue from the President of the United States is the reason we are in this situation and is also a reason not to go forward as Obama would like.

A Citizen's Take on Syria

Charlie Daniels | September 03, 2013 | 11:27

In my soon to be 77 years as a citizen of the United States of America, having lived through Japan's sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, the dark days of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Watergate, 9/11 and all the other serious and profound events our beloved nation has been involved in over the last three quarters of a century, I have to say with all sincerity that I have never seen a president as confused, befuddled, impotent, insincere and as out of his depth as Barack Obama has become in dealing with the Syrian issue.

When you're the leader of the free world, you don't make statements you can't back up and you don't draw lines in the sand, watch your enemies cross them with impunity and go off and play a round of golf.

Obama painted himself and the nation into a corner with his “red line” statement and I truly believe he thought he would have unilateral international and domestic support only to find himself standing alone in the spotlight with egg on his face and a ticking political time bomb in his hand.

I don't believe he ever had any intention of going through Congress and only decided to do so when he was left without the support of traditional allies and the disdain of a war weary American public who have begun to feel that America cannot be the international police force who has to bear the brunt of every catastrophe.

I think Obama is taking the vote for military authorization to Congress to bail himself out, to buy some time, somebody to share the blame if all goes wrong. Obama had already positioned war ships. All that was left to do was give the order to fire the missiles and at the 11th hour, after being rejected by the British parliament and put off by the French, he started having second thoughts and reached for the life preserver.

I, for one, am glad that Obama - for whatever reason - political expediency notwithstanding, did not facilitate the missile attack as it would have been largely symbolic and cosmetic and as he had given Assad enough warning to move the weapons out of harms way would have done little if anything to rid the world of chemical weapons.

It's not that I think nothing should be done about weapons of mass destruction no matter where they're used in the world, but I believe it's not just the responsibility of the United States to enforce international law. If the civilized nations of the world shirk this duty, why should they think America should take on the job by itself?

America has done enough "sending signals", symbolic gestures, getting involved in situations that don't threaten our national interests or that of our allies.

America's leaders should guard their tongues well and not issue spur of the moment reactions and empty threats. Our bite should be a lot worse than our bark and a presidential warning should be a dire and solemn caution, issued only once and followed up with swift and decisive action, not some half-baked puff of bravado that nobody really takes seriously.

What little bit of credibility America had in the Middle East just went out the window Friday afternoon, as a president who let his ego overload his common sense backed down from a tin horned dictator of a third world country, or at least that's how it's viewed in that part of the world.

The mettle of a president and the people he surrounds himself with is not proven until push comes to shove. This nation has entered a new phase in the war on terror and our relativity in the rest of the world and the road is going to be long, rocky and dangerous.
It remains to be seen how this embarrassing situation will play out. Will the president seek the council of the more experienced advice available to him in Congress? Or, will he remain defiant and continue to go it alone.

You've cost America a great deal this past week, Mr. President.

How much more can we take?

*********************************

Very well said. This has been a very expensive President when it comes to spending and wasting our nation’s credibility on the world stage. All for very little n return.

Although things might change, this will do it for the current review and analysis of the Syrian situation. If you agree with the points we have made over the past four days, please call your Congressional representatives to vote against any authorization to use military force to intervene in a far away civil war that has no national security impacts on our country, despite what many in the Washington political class will try to sell you.

Part 3, The Lamest Washington Politicians Of All Time: In Their Own Words

We have spent the past two days reviewing some of the funnier, sadder, and more insane political quotes from our current set of politicians. This review has been keeping with our theory that we are currently being served by the lamest set of politicians in Washington in the history of our country. They somehow keep drawing high salaries and high benefits without ever resolving a single major issue facing the country.

Their ineptness is easily illustrated by their own words. Politicians that have no concept of simple math, e.g. you cannot have more people losing their jobs every week than which live in the country (Nancy Pelosi).

Politicians that would rather see American citizens who differing views from them on a issues “go to hell” rather than have a civilized, adult conversation about those issues (Maxine Walters).

Politicians that have no accurate concept of American history, e.g. Joe Biden who thinks that FDR went on television when the Great Depression hit, not knowing that the Great Depression hit before he was in office and before TV was more than a lab experiment.

Nowhere have we been able to find a recent politician’s quote that offered hope, change, insight, and solutions to our problems. All great American political quotes are attributable to politicians/leaders that lived long ago, e.g. Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, Teddy Roosevelt, Kennedy, etc. It could be that great leaders have greats words to say and great quotes and that is why we cannot find any form the current set of politicians running the country.

Unfortunately, we could not get all of the inane and stupid quotes into only two posts and need today to finish the job…for now. I am sure more evidence of the ineptness of the current political class will come forth, to be reviewed here, in the coming months.

One disclaimer before we finish up with up. I am sure that my liberal friends and family members will eventually tell me that I am biased in that I did not include George Bus quotes, Sarah Palin quotes, Mitt Romney quotes, etc. And they would be correct, I purposely omitted their quotes but for good reason.  Bush, Palin, Romney, etc. are no longer in office and are unlikely to be in public/political office anytime soon.

They have really no impact on my life, my family, and my freedoms. Thus, I do not worry about what they say or think. I only worry about the knuckleheads that are in office today because every day, they negatively impact my life, my family, and my freedom at an alarming rate. Their incompetence deserves to be called out, using their own words. For all to see how poorly they are serving every one in this country.

Okay, let’s finish up the latest uncovered insanity quotes from the current political class.

1) ''I actually did vote for the $87 billion, before I voted against it.'' Former U.S. Senator and current Secretary of State John Kerry, on voting against a military funding bill for U.S. troops in Iraq, March 19, 2004. I guess he has all the bases covered and thus, cannot be wrong.

2) ''Our economy, I think, is still -- the fundamentals of our economy are strong.'' Senator John McCain on September 15, 2008. Shortly thereafter, major Wall Street banks collapsed, the economy imploded and the Great Recession started, the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. Kind of missed the boat on that prediction, Senator.

3) "In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking." Vice President Joe Biden. I am still trying to figure out how Paula Deen got so lambasted and screwed for something she said decades ago while this politician can get away with this kind of racist statement.

4) "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." Former Senator and Vice President and current global warming maniac Al Gore. Sorry Mr. Gore, but…no…you did not create the Internet. Smart scientists and engineers created the Internet, not some Washington politician.

5) "We're seeing the reality of a lot of the North Pole starting to evaporate, and we could get to a tipping point. Because if it evaporates to a certain point - they have lanes now where ships can go that couldn't ever sail through before. And if it gets to a point where it evaporates too much, there's a lot of tundra that's being held down by that ice cap." Congressman Henry Waxman. Thanks for the info, Congressman, I always wondered what was holding down the tundra and now I know.

6) "If you take out the killings, Washington actually has a very very low crime rate." Marion Barry, former mayor of Washington, DC. Yeah, that’s a shame that you cannot take out the murders, that really would have improved your crime results. But you cannot take them out. [I included Mr. Barry’s quotes since even though he is not currently in office, he has been known to reappear many times over in public life.]

7) "We'd like to avoid problems, because when we have problems, we can have troubles." Wesley Bolin, former governor of Arizona. It is amazing how many times troubles and problems spring up at exactly the same time. Uncanny coincidences.

8) "I am clearly more popular than Reagan. I am in my third term. Where's Reagan? Gone after two! Defeated by George Bush and Michael Dukakis no less." Marion Barry, former mayor of Washington, DC. It’s called term limits, Mr. Barry, term limits.

9) "A zebra does not change its spots." Al Gore. Huh?

10) "Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn't even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas.''  Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann. I would bet that there are, indeed, at least a few studies that show carbon dioxide is harmful.

11) "We have a lot of work to do. It's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border." John McCain. What makes it extra hard is that Iraq and Pakistan do not share a common border.

12) "Can I explain to you what happened? First of all it happened during a period after she was in remission from cancer." Former Sen. John Edwards, on cheating on his wife. Well, that makes the adultery okay, she was in cancer remission when you had the affair, how very decent of you. Thanks for the explanation.

13) “I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.” Hillary Clinton. Spoken on her visit to Bosnia in 1996, contradicting every other account that said there was no threat or actual of gunfire. Clinton later said she "misspoke." How can you mispeak about people shooting guns at you? It either happened or it did not happen.

14) "I'm just not giving it up for f***in' nothing. I'm not gonna do it. And, and I can always use it. I can parachute me there." ... "Give this motherf****r Obama his senator? F**k him. For nothing. F**k him.'" Former Illinois Governor, and current state penitentiary convict,  Rod Blagojevich. Nice language, true leadership in those words.

15) “There are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that.” Barack Obama. This quote I find particularly disgusting and disgraceful, he has obviously not operated a small business of any kind and does not recognize the major sacrifices small businesses and their owners own make. To assert they did not build their businesses is the utmost Washington condescension of all time.

16) “No, no. I have been practicing... I bowled a 129. It's like -- it was like Special Olympics, or something." Barack Obama. Paula Deen syndrome again, how does he not got skewered for a heartless statement like this?

18) “Our assessment is that the Egyptian government is stable.” Hillary Clinton, shortly before the country exploded and its long time dictator was toppled. Must come from the John McCain school of forecasting (see McCain quote above.)

19) “I had the great honor in seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person I was able to award the Medal Of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it  posthumously.” Barack Obama. But Monti died in 2006 and received the medal in 2009, the true definition of posthumously.

20) “Well, the good news is that emissions are down because of the economy.” Senator Claire McCaskill. Great news, Senator. If we can another ten or twenty million  more Americans to lose their jobs then the air would be really clean.

21) “We used to have the best infrastructure in the world. We are the country that built  the Intercontinental Railroad.” Barack  Obama. Sorry, Transcontinental railroad, no such thing as the Intercontinental Railroad. Are you sure you were born here, given such a bad grasp of U.S. history?

I am going to finish this series with seven quotes from Hillary Clinton. I include them since up until recently she was a top member of Obama’s Cabinet, serving as secretary of state. She is highly likely to be a Presidential candidate in 2016. Thus, she will likely be in our lives at least for a little while longer.

Before we review her quotes, let me share an old saying that has guided me through the years: “The reason a person curses and swears is that they are not creative enough or intelligent enough at that moment not to curse or swear.”

Now, ask yourself, given the following Hillary quotes and my quote, do we really think that she is creative enough and intelligent enough to lead or become President when this is how she behaves around other human beings and how she treats other human beings? I cannot imagine other great leaders from our past behaving as she reportedly does.

All of these quotes are cited with the sources they come from, they are no made up on my part, I am just reporting them from other sources, none of whom to my knowledge have been sued by her for false representation of facts.

#1 “Where is the G*damn f**king flag! I want the G*damn f**king flag up every morning at f**king sunrise.” Inside the White House by Ronald Kessler, p.244- Hillary to staff at the Arkansas Governor’s mansion on Labor Day 1991.

#2 “F**k off! It’s enough I have to see you shit-kickers every day, I’m not going to talk to you too!! Just do your G*damn job and keep your mouth shut.” America Evita by Christopher Anderson, p.90-Hillary to her State Trooper body guards after one of them greeted her with “Good Morning.”

#3 “If you want to remain on this detail, get your f**king ass over here and grab those bags!” The First Partner p.259- Hillary to a Secret Service Agent who was reluctant to carry her luggage because he wanted to keep his hands free in case of an incident.

#4 “Stay the f**k back, stay the f**k back away from me! Don’t come within ten yards of me, or else! Just f**king do as I say, Okay!!?” Unlimited Access by Clinton FBI Agent in Charge, Gary Aldrige, p.139- Hillary screaming at her Secret Service detail.

#5 “Where’s the miserable c**k sucker!” The Truth About Hillary by Edward Klein, p.5- Hillary shouting at a Secret Service officer.

#6 “You f**king idiot” Crossfire p.84-Hillary to a State Trooper who was driving her to an event.

#7 “Put this on the ground! I left my sunglasses in the limo. I need those sunglasses. We need to go back!” Dereliction of Duty p.71-72– Hillary to Marine One helicopter pilot to turn back while en route to Air Force One.

There you have it. Politicians that curse and swear like drunken sailors and are about as effective in getting things accomplished as drunken sailors.

Politicians that do not know American history.

Politicians that are lousy forecasters which makes them lousy legislators who cannot anticipate the future to any degree at all.

Politicians that insult those that work for them, Special Olympic participants, and Indians.

What a disgrace. Time to dump them all out of office and start again, because really, how much worse could it get:
